Default 500 t4

ok here we go just may self wat i belive to be a t4 but was told by the fella that i got of said it was a harvey gibbs rs500 turbo,,

There is no such thing as a Harvey Gibbs t4, it will be a straight forward t4 fella.

it does have a mod to the inlet compressor side..

You mean the restrictor fitted? I beleive this will be because the original compressor housing are rare and rather than scrapping one the turbo company will often bore them out and sleeve them

What does it say on the front?
It doesn't look like an original T4, thats not to say it isn't though.

yep thats the one..

on the compressor housing it says m10 a/r70 r garrett and a little further round it says 727-2 does this mean its not a genuine rs500 t4???

The first day I haven't taken my cossie to work in two weeks! Otherwise I could've nipped out and checked mine for you, I'm sure there's a boffin (or two) on here that could tell you straight off the bat though.

I personal,y think it looks right, it has the same comp housing as my t4 so nothing to worry about IMO. Get it sent to cr turbos to have them tell you for sure

If I'm being honest, yours does look moody / Chinese compared to the genuine ones shown in the thread. I am not knocking your turbo and I do not profess to be a T4 guru but your one looks totally different and in my eyes sub standard on the compressor casting.

I hope I am wrong and you have ended up with a real bargain

Not a pop mate. Just looking at the quality of the casting - the numbers etc.
