innomax gas and a roll of stainless wire. pure argon is no good for mig stainless.

I made my dads exhaust system on his cortina welded stainless tail pipes to the stainless back boxes, used a mig with normal gas and normal mild steel wire and to be fair its the neatest looking weld ive ever done, its been on for nearly two years and theres no rust.

I'll admit you cant beat tig on s/s and alloy but for a one off small job i'd give it a go with what you have, may be have a play on a pice of scrap i think you need to set it quite hot.

if you doing pipe open the jaw of ya vice so the pipe sits on top half in/out get ya self steady and then get someone to turn the pipe as you weld,

Stainless wire and argoshield light is what i use, doesn't come out too bad.
I have done all mine this way, exhaust system, boost pipes etc.
