Is there anything I can use to stop it dripping?
I have replaced the washer and plug but it still drips, Is there a silicone or inequivalent
that I can apply to the thread to seal it?
Guessing the thread in the sumps fucked for it to be able to seep past after changing both the washer and sump plug. You sure its not leaking from the sump gasket then running to the sump plug?

Its a new sump, The thread is fine. Its tightens up nicely but not over tight.
Its a vw golf so no gasket there. The sealant used was the genuine stuff from vw, its definitely coming from the plug.
Its been like it for a year, I am about to service the car and dont really want to fill with fresh oil whilst its seeping,
It takes a month or so for the oil level to drop so its not severe but its a problem I need to sort.
if its 'definitely' the plug then either the sealing face isn't flat or the threads are baggy.
The face is flat, i used a little bit of thread lock and it seems to have solved the issue.
Would have used some PTFE tape but I couldn't find the role I have.
