Lol at you jimbo!!!
How many engines have you done over 700 hp on pump fuel then??
Im being serious here too as i havnt heard of many??
Also another serious question how many of these engines that you get over 700 hp on pump fuel actually last more than 5 minutes before they fall apart??
Did you manage to get rods engine to stay together at over 600 hp with out falling apart or is he still running less power??
And what did actually happen to your last engine dave? and what did you salvage from the one before that?
All questions serious non argumentative ones as id just like to know??

All of them last fine untill they crack blocks.
Rod birleys cracked the block and didn't want to pay for us to put a new block on it. So he got mr quaife to pay for the repair at jeff Paige's which is when it properly let go, so before having a dig, understand what actually happened.
We havnt had a engine let go other than through installation or cracking the block and causing issues, which they do at around 600lbft, you will find this out if your engine truely gets there.
Daves engine was fine, it had the dry sump system incorrectly fitted which led to further proplems when cylinders are filled with oil, so we are now going through it for him ready for his new season out
His previous engine was fine, it cracked the block and was put onto an ally one
Any other question/attempts at digs?

As i said wasnt digs mate but i knew you guys had done a few big power ones that i had heard had let go so thought id ask the truth instead of spilling all the bullshit that i did hear..
I did have a true 600 lb ft before if you or the old man believe it or not?
It did 578 lb ft on joes dyno and actually had less on the dd rr un till it was trimmed up and cam timing played with more..
That block is still going strong and in sonic booms 3 door doing 531 lb ft with a smaller turbo than i had.
I had a t4 0z as you know and the most we see on pump was 642 hp but i was giving hp away for lb ft for a no lag power delivery and was still only 2.0 ltr..
The tall block theory similar to martins but with wet liners should stop the cracking that has been experienced with over 700 hp as the revs wont be needed as much to get there and this should help with harmonics...
Thats what im hoping for anyway!!lol..
Any way no digs just genuine questions as i heard loads of shit about rods and a couple of others and actually didnt believe the most of it ..

Hey we all have things put to us in one way or another mate?
We all have doubters and we all have people talking shit about us?
If i have a question il ask it?
Jimbo put it to me in a way that because i didnt have over 700 hp i was doing something wrong..
I asked the questions back to ask how many they have seen do that much and stay together..
The answers i got were what i expected!! not many and then yes the blocks crack!!
I had 60 or so less hp but guess what my block is still going strong now in another car and was built back in 05..
Id say a good reliable 650-700 drivable horses in the right car with a good driver is all thats needed and tbh i think you proved your engine to do just that...hence why im trying the same sort of principles as you did but with all the latest best bits i can buy to achieve it..
Id rather have 700 reliable horses than 800 horses that just keep failing..
Any way martin hows the firenza coming on?

So the escort is coming back?? Awesome!! and 800 hp? very nice..
When will all this be done mate and why not just put a viper engine in there and super charge it and twin turbo it?lol

Danny your first post came across massively as a dig, and not questioning, hence why I go all defensive, if they were questions then you need to word things differently
Right, my comment on the t04z was ment to come across as 700bhp on a t04z is sailing, the most we have seen is 720 at 8000rpm at 29/30psi on pump fuel and a lump more on race.
That turbo is awesome, and flows more than the compressor map would lead you to beleive in my experience
Anyway hopefully you will have good luck with your new engine and not have any issues we are with the block.

Ok well sorry to sound bitchy!!
Well im hoping the tall block will mean less peak revs needed to achieve the 700 hp and then less harmonics and the girdle to stop any main cap movement..
I honestly think it will work and as im not asking massive power(over700 hp)i think it will stay in one piece..
Only time will tell i suppose?
Have you got any other tall blocks in the alloy variety running yet?
And what do you think of them?

Interesting info though from you and Jim

For all big spec engines iv ever been involved in iv always used a superflow dyno ..very similar to your old mans mate then once in stalled in car checked on rollers..

[quote=J1mbo;6077671]Not on net, gave just over 700 on race at ours, he had issues with boost and it gave 730 at 27 psi... Then near on 800 at 33 when ey got boost right, hence why I always take figures from any with a pinch of salt, the problem is some seem bang on, it's varies hugely![/qu
Iv only ever had good results with the dd rrs ive seen and used although always thought the 4x4s on some cars come a couple of % over..
Ask the guy what hes at and it say on the graph as that can make them read wrong?
