Default Very hard to get 5th - help

Focus mk1

The last couple of weeks iv been finding it hard n harder to select 5th gear, it just won't go in. When I go 5th to 4th, I didn't go straight in, it doesn't spring back to the centre of the gate, it stays below 5th position. I tried reversing this morning once I had driven to work and it wouldn't go in, so I'm hoping I can back out of my spot later on today. Any ideas what's happened to it?

A guy at my work thinks that it is something to do with the gear linkage cables, I'm guessing its not really an easy fix?

Easy enough to do if you have new cables Luke - One of them stretches if my memory is right

You could try adjusting them as a temporary measure though?

There are 2 adjustor nuts on the gearbox side - big plastic things - using those

Alternatively, bring it round and I'll do it for you
