My E60 530d is returning about 28mpg round town with stopping and starting, but on a run it gets to 38-40mpg quickly....

I haven't yet mate na.

I spoke to that company I purchased the blanks off of this morning, they say they don't know what size blanks I need and that I need to remove the inlet just to check and confirm size before I can confirm to them, frustrating, so Sunday I'll have to remove it, just to put it back on again!

Not checked temps yet, but showing I am in need of a DPF Filter? got to look into that one.

Also booked into BMW on the 1st for recall on battery wire to be sorted out.

How much am I looking at to get the PDF removed and mapped mate?

Theres a lad local to me into his BMW's and he told my wife today to let me know it'd be 200 quid for a remap, as he's taking his in too.

BMW dealer said if I waited, around an hour, but as the dealer is only 5 minutes from where I work, I am dropping it off 8am and collecting lunch time.

Tiff, did you remove your flaps yourself?

As the guide on the BMW form/supplier is shit

I gbot every bolt and nut undone that I could find, and the fucker still wasn't coming off!

All that and just to check what size I need and now can't even order um pmsl will have to ask for refund.

Bit pissed, will have to look at having the company fit um depending on how far away it is.

The car spent the day in BMW today and had the recall issue sorted.

BMW spanners were imnpressed with it and said it's a good example from what they usualy see being dropped in, was nice to hear.

Kev, speak to Phil before Monday and see if his mate Darren who does some remaps can do you one for this one. He lives in Grain, so not too far away from where you will be.

He did one for a friend who had a 530D M-Sport on a 2007 model and the fuel economy went from 38mpg to 52mpg and if you turned the TC right off (hold button for 3 seconds) it lit the rear tyres in 1st and 2nd on the autobox in the dry (as Phil will testify to as passenger )

Can answer now, no lol

Just spoke with TipTop Performance in Birmingham, recommended by James @ MSD as I saw his remap of a 3 series in projects area and PM'd him.

Not booked in yet, but he only needs a couple of days notice, hopefully next week

I don't think you have to fit the blanks? Myne were just removed, cost £120.
I had the MSD remap and the car went well, but the exhaust tips got fairly sooty where as prior they were always completely clean.

I suppose you can dismantle the swirl flaps and refit but to have the CNC'd blanks fitted / supplied cost me about £160 so was happy with that.

Yes that's what I had done. Didn't notice any difference in mpg/ power.
Have you checked you have the vortex crankcase breather rather than the older loo roll type?.
I also had the gearbox oil and sump filter changed on the gearbox and the car was noticeably smoother after, but its pricey at about £500

When you have the gearbox open there is also an updated mechatronics sleeve that is worth fitting, I think it runs 3 o' rings rather than 2 or something. As these can leak and let gearbox oil into the electrical plug. They are cheap and add next to nothing extra to the price.

When PMW replace the swirl flaps they check what type of crankcase breather you have and also clean the egr valve. If they didnt say anything then you must have the vortex crankcase breather already like mine had.

Excellent thread, nice looking cars in darker paint, for some reason silver isn't doing it for me, seems to make the lines of the car stand out too much.

I'm seriously considering a later E60 had been looking at the 535d but finding a later 08 onwards thats fully loaded with lower miles is proving aukward. So most likely going to be a 530d.
Can anyone tell me what the change was that happened around 57plates which takes power from 218bhp to 235bhp.
Also do these 57(ish) onward cars need the swirlflaps done too? Do the 535D's need swirlflaps done.
Also the heads up display; i've seen on clips on youtube where info is displayed on the windscreen, is this an option? or simply a setting. Any other info and advice appreciated.
