Afternoon Everyone,
Just joined today, am looking for some info about my St200. It's my second one now and uprated to the limited edition haha.
Got it in April and am loving it again, am looking for info on small mods to do to car to keep it running sweet? Have had to replace the alternator few months ago and the starter motor last week. Am replacing all the brake discs and pads next month. Is there any other things that I should do that will help keep the car an engine running well.
Any comments or advice would be a help.
Cheers. Stu.

Hi
Not really an answer to your question, but if you have to replace the discs and pads anyway you could take the opportunity to slightly upgrade the front discs and pads by replacing them with Mk3 Mondeo Calipers or Focus ST170 Calipers. With either caliper use Focus ST170 discs.
If u need more info do a search, plenty of info and pics somewhere.
I'm sure someone will give u a list of other things to check and or replace.

Just keep the servicing up mate they are really good cars pull well fit the family in and still quick enough to be fun when out on your own.
Plugs leads oil and filters before anything else.
If you want advice on modifying ask away but don't expect big power gains

Clean the upper an lower intake manafold the egr fills it with carbonized crap realy helps with pickup an k&n filter not a bad mod an replacing the vac lines is not a bad move as they do get brittle also the idler for the alt belt can go so dont buy the whole thing as they cost Ł40 and you can get the bearing way cheaper as I found out myself .

Ok the EGR is an emission's system that bleeds exhaust gas back through the manafold ,causing a lot of oily goop to build up on the walls of st upper an lower manafold and lower inlet butterfly's an valves ,which is not too good for air flow ,so best to clean it all out ,done this on mine and it drove more sweetly ,and the vac lines I was meaning the vacum lines that control the EGR an fuel regulator a couple of mine snapped causing running problems so just somthing to check ,have a google there a few how too's about what I have mentioned , most of all enjoy there a nice ride !
Bit of advice be careful of the vac lines near the coil pack there green cream and red the plastic and brittle as fuck I broke mine lol
Mines an st24 with 200 manifolds injectors etc there's a thread in resto section somewhere infact I really need to update it lol

How limited? I wouldn't call it difficult but then I'm not shy with the tools lol if you've got 8 & 10 mm sockets you'll be fine but the egr has a massive nut on that I couldn't get undone it's about 24mm or you can undo it from the upper inlet which is 2 10 mm bolts but ideally you'll want a new gasket.
JUST TO PRE WARN YOU
Any gaskets you require will need to be ordered from ford they have to come from Germany and take a week I found this out after I'd taken the car to bits so don't do the same lol.
My order iirc
Air box and maf off
Then in clip all visible pipes and hoses
Unbolt egr valve
Remove throttle cable
Undo the 8 8mm bolts for upper inlet
Carefully ease the inlet up off the lower manifold
Look out for pipes or clips that may not be visible but still attached
Now you can either remove the lower inlet or clean it in place
I did the works as I was changing to st200 manifolds on my 24 so cleaned the head ports at the same time
PARTS YOU WILL NEED
A decent socket set and screw drivers
A couple of spare jubilee clips / cable ties
Several cans of carb cleaner MINE HAD 3 AND MINES DONE 87k miles
Clean wraggs and a tooth brush to agitate the carbon in the ports
The required gaskets where necessary
Plenty of patience
Budget a full day if you've never done it before
And some plasters for when you've finished lol
