You want at least 100amp and go with gas if you can

I've never had a good result with gas less welding

The Clarke turbo 105 I have is great for thin gauge steel

If only you had asked a few wek back I had a nice little Sealey 150amp mig going cheap-ish

Anyway if you want a cheap welder get a second hand welder rather that a cheap new one would always go with gas unless you are working outside all the time.

Clarke are shit imo and as said u need correct gas and a decent helmet.
buy something good and it will last you and will do a good job with practice. bits for mates will soon bring the initial cost down.

Ive a cebora 155 which is good for all car work. use adams gas for a non rent bottle job done

I've got the same welder. Bought it off eBay earlier this year, had only been used a couple of times. Can't remember exactly what I paid for it, but was only just over Ł100. It is supposed to be the best cheapish/smallish welder around.

for the price/useablity of the clark you cant go wrong. I run a 160tm and its the bollock's. Same inside's as the 151 its just on wheels and you can sit a big bottle on the back and your away. Try to get a proper size/half size bottle as the disposable's will cost you a fucking fortune. Stay away from buying a 'pro' welder, unless you know your onions on them as chance's are it wont run 100% right, who would sell a 1k/1.5k welder for a couple of hundred? Nobody!
