vipec ecu...
Hi guys just wondered if anyone on here is running one, either v44 or v88? do you guys think they're any good/good value? how do they compare to other systems such as autronic, emerald etc? sorry for all the questions but i've been doing some research on systems available and the vipec stuff looks very good but want to know what peoples first hand experience with them is.

i had a long chat with my engine builder who has recomended this ecu for my project so i sold my existing ecu in favour for this one. Apparently from what he told me it is a very capabale and reliable ecu which is enough for me.
Not heard any negative words on this ecu as of yet so must be a goodun

Choose your mapper and then go with whatever he recommends! Fwiw, I've got a vipec plug-in on my car and it seems to work well and comes with some good features

the vipec V88 is a good unit and well do anything you need , but you need a good dealer to support you , in the UK i would go with http://www.syvecs.co.uk/ these guys have F1 roots and well control anything you can dream up.
I would go with M.A.Developments the UK distributor. Im afraid a YB isnt F1 but at M.A.D we have Vipec sussed . Funny you know whats best in the UK from Canada .

Well education goes a long way, and Syvecs is made in the UK, funny how you do not know what is in your own backyard plus maybe you should learn about the history of the Ford Cosworth YB and then you may speak!

Plus have to agree if its vipec or autronic m.a.d is the only place to go if used on a yb

I too have just bought the vipec v44, as far as I'm aware one of the differences on the v88 is traction control. Mark did explain the other differences but the v44 was good enough for me.

As above, i've done cars on Vipec 44/88 & Plug 'n' Play.
The flexibility and interface of it is brilliant. One of the cars i've done is an R53 BMW Mini with a 1.7 litre engine that's now making over 500bhp. We've used every single analogue and digital input on the Vipec for things like individual cylinder EGT etc. and with the on board logging can see exactly what's been going on.
We ran methanol injection at one point and had the Vipec doing on the fly map switching depending on the meth flow rate. We've also reconfigured the drive by wire throttle through the Vipec to give the car the best chance of traction!
Very capable ECU - gets my vote
