Sprint / hillclimb info request
If anyone can help put me in right direction it would be apreciated,
Im interesting in doing some hillclimb/sprint events
Not to go all out and win but rather than just a trackday i fancy having ago conpetativly,
Ive got a national B licence, but what clubs are best to join for these sort of events?
Ive taken a deposit on my focus rs and put a deposit on a cossie thats all caged and ready for some action, am i allowed to compete as novice in a 2.0 turbo car?
Cheers for any advice

If you already have a natB license youre halfway there mate!
First join the BARC as a Yorkshire centre member http://www.barc.net/regional_centres/index.php
(it can be a struggle, websites not the best!)
Then enter an event here http://www.harewoodhill.com/
Got to be a good starting point being fairly local?
There is only one event left and its this weekend, and entries are closed so youve missed out this year.
A good start would be to enter the pre season practice day next March, keep an eye on the website. Also plenty of info on the website about the class structure- basically the extent of your modifications will dictate the class you run in... There is no class structure on practice day and you could also get advice on what class to enter on competition days.
Hope thats helpful

I'm a member of the HDLCC, but there will be similar clubs in your area.
You can use a 2.0 turbo production car. There are only limits on engine sizes of specialist/race cars. Only thing to bear in mind is forced induction means cc is multiplied by 1.4, so a 2.0 turbo is classed as a 2.8

Not sure on upgrade signature for practice day, you would have to contact them to find out.
With the mods you have, i would think class 3C would suit (modified production over 2 litre). Check the blue book along with harewood website for details, all sorts of things come into play such as how much of the standard interior remains, suspension pick up points etc etc. To be honest nobody will bat an eyelid if youre in the wrong class until you start winning!!! Scrutineers are more interested in safety rather than class eligibility... Why dont you have a drive up there saturday or sunday to get an idea?

Have you got a race suit, helmet, boots and gloves mate.
If you don't mind abit a traveling Curbourgh Sprint has an event on the 13th of October which only requires a Nat B licence and the closing date is the 30th September so you can still enter.
I'll be there running in my 3 Door as it's last round in my championship.

You'll need a Helmet which is Snell rated best to get a Snell 2010 one as you'll get more years out of it.
And a Race Suit, Gloves and Boots to FIA 8856-2000 standard.
Your best bet is to try a find a Nat B only sprint/hillclimb championship possible even a handicap championship so you can drop into a class where it doesn't matter what car you have you're just really racing yourself which is a nice easy step into racing.

Just pulled this from HSA website
So does this mean i wouldnt be able to use the cosworth as i am a beginer???
As a beginner with no racing experience and a ‘B’ Class licence (see how to get a licence in the license section) you will be able to drive all types of production and kit cars but will be limited to 2.0 litre engine capacity (or 1428cc forced induction) in single seater and sports libre (unless running as a roadgoing car) classes for cars built after 31/12/60.
