Default thoughts on this please

hi basically i have a mk1 fiesta with a zetec turbo lump in. I need to get it on the road asap

Thing is the manifold i have on it at the mo is a modded over the gearbox type manifold. It loks a bit ropey and its been cut and shut. Im really not keen to use it. Thing is i need to keep the turbo over the box due to space and the size of the turbo. If i was to buy the manifold in the link, then make a pipe that bolts to the t3 flange and runs towards the gearbox so basically it keeps the turbo over the box would this still work well?

seen peopledo it to moody standard mild steel manifold but not stainless ones. i would also make some brakets that bolt to the gearbox to support the weight..... whats peoples opinions on this ?? would the manifold be any good??

thanks

I think not! I would put the money into a new over the box mani. Speak to Gary crazy cage of here, he might be able to sort you out.
I did try to mod one of those obx mani,s and it ended a costly operation.

It would work, just not very well as collector would be so far away from turbo, could you not get 1 of the over the g box manis of the bay?

Any pictures of the engine bay and the spec? Can you use a Mk1 FRS manifold? Seen it done, worked well and was cheap enough too.

standard focus rs one wouldnt be good enough for me......
surely the manifold collector distance wouldnt be that much further?

my spec is

steel rods
forged pistons
uprated head gasket
uprated valve springs
turbo development hybrid t34/t28 turbo

and this is what it looks like now. Flow would be crap, looks crap. Apparently this was one of the first area six manifolds. Had it a very long time. Ive seen someone selling similar looking ones on ebay for about £250 but they look a bit crap. seen upclose pics and the work isnt that good

thats why i thought of the idea of the manifold at the begining of the thread and running a remote pipe over the to the gearbox for the turbo.....
