Exclamation dont you love cossie's !!!!!!!

Well yesterday i decided to actually do some work to my cossie when i got home from work she had been running very rich and idling shit so got a coolant temp sensor and air intake sensor, and going to clean out the iscv and going to fit a new scuttle i have got, anyway changed to air temp sensor cleaned out the iscv all nice and easy, jacked the car up to change the coolant temp sensor,on undoing the sensor it decided to strip all the threads so removed the coolant outlet took it back to work and sorted out the threads no problem

Started to refit the coolant outlet bottom bolt in no probs went to put the second one, where my hands were slippery i dropped the socket and bolt, not a problem you would think ohhhhh no not with cossies, where mine has not got the boot that covers up the clutch fork and where the cable goes into the box,so mine got a hole!guess where the said socket and bolt managed to make there way in yes thats right into my gearbox there is no way i could be bothered to remove the box,so spending many a hour with a normal magnet i managed to hook on to it only for it to drop off the magnet at the last moment,so had to push the car back into my garage and wait till today to go to work to get a flexiable magnet.

After half hour managed to get the socket and to my amazement the 5mm alan key bolt was still on it to say i was happy is a understatement, anyway all fitted now to do the scuttle, wennt from a very bad mood last night to a good mood now lol

Made progress on my Escos today, managed to find the current drain that's been killing the battery since I have had the car, drawing 0.3A constantly , even with the car totally off.

It's coming off fuse 21, (15A) that supplies the interior lights. Even with all the lights off it still draws 0.3A, so tested the door switches & they all seem good, boot switch seems ok as well. Removed the roof & boot lights, still draws 0.3A with no loads anywhere, so can only think its a ballast unit for the 20 secs courtousy light sonwhere?

Pulled the lighting relay & it's still drawing current, seem to have a live feed from sonwhere, fuck knows where though!

Given up now & just removed the fuse, it will stop the alarm going spastic every 3 days when the battery goes flat

A bit off topic but this reminded me...... I found out the other day a lot of so called stainless steel is magnetic. There are different grades i.e. A1 A2 A3 etc etc. I now ask for the grade.

I had to chuckle when reading that as you have the same luck as me Years ago I dropped a 10mm spanner in my enine bay by the chassis leg, instead of it falling onto the floor it fell into one of the openings in the chassis leg and ended up sitting behind the ARB mounts on the inside took ages to get it out again

Dropping valve colletts down oil returns is always a good one too. Try finding a magnet the depth of a cvh engine

Lol nice to know someone else shares my shit luck.

Not cossie related I know but today I converted my st24 to st200 spec (inlets) etc anyway it's been a bitch to say the least and I dropped a bolt off the fuel reg straight down the inlet port and to top it off I couldn't find my telescopic magnet but managed to get my magnetic screwdriver down there and pull the fucker out lol

After all that shit it runs mint but the throttle cable is different to mine so I can't drive it anyway!

There's a lot of big ass blanks people leave out when writing up these conversions :-(

Bloody hell Doug, you were lucky to get that out lol. Before i converted mine to hydraulic, the clutch cable snapped and the end went in the box, I tried for hours with a magnet to get it out before admitting defeat and taking the box out lol.
