Default Golf V5's

Bought one of these today in auction as I was 100% sure they were pretty bullet proof.

It was immaculate, 2000 (V reg), full VW service history, 10 months tax and MOT for £500.
It drove through the auctions lovely, was nice and quiet, no warning lights etc.

Wouldn't start after I switched it off, after it warmed up it started misfiring on one cylinder and it overheated.
This was before I even got it out the carpark.

I've stuck it back in the auction, if it don't sell I will have to scrap it.

Gutted

Scrapped it. Lost £500.

Unfortunatley I have nowhere I can keep it long term to fix it.

Plan was to buy it, let the GF use it for a few months until she sorts her Corsa out and use it as a weekend bruiser.

I could have probably doubled my money if I had somewhere to break it for bits

I have nowhere to keep it and would have to insure it if I wanted to leave it on the road.
Then theres the costs to get it towed home.

Would have done better scrapping the Corsa and keeping the broken Golf. LoL

You scrapped it and lost all your money? Scrap yards round here guarantee to pay a minimum of £400 for any car, sounds like you had your pants pulled down!

All scrap yards around here are £100 regardless of the condition and they come and pick it up.

Stupid me, I should have gone down and stipped as much off it as possible. Wheels battery, interior, cat etc.

Did it have leathers? If it did I'd have had no problem giving you what you paid for it.

I would have whacked a cheap 1.8t lump in it and kept it.

How on earth did you manage to lose what you paid?? A golf must be worth about £150 in scrap??

About two months ago my work colleague sold his mot failure V5 to a breakers yard for £400
