Default Fuel additives like Redex, STP etc...Do you use them?

Here is a random question....

Do people use fuel additives like injector cleaner etc? Reason why i asked as i thought they were pointless and can make the car run like a bag of shite etc

But recently i saw a bloke at my local halfords in an Evo 8 purring what looked like STP Injector cleaner into his fuel tank....Now this got me thinking....Do they actually work? I went to French Car Show awhile back and got some free STP Injector cleaner and never thought about using it but i am thinking i might? Lol

I'm sure Fith Gear did a test on these, octane boosters though. No improvment whatsoever!
Not sure on the injector cleaners or anything though, I've used them before.
Surely the injector cleaners just flush the crap into the cylinder? Can't be good

I used millers diesel additive in my old escort td but i used it regurally over a period of time i did notice a difference and i use to get an extra 25 mpg to a tank full. But it wasn"t overnight!! As i owned it for 12 years..I did put a one shot redex petrol additve in a subaru i had did it twice over a month no difference.I think its a more long term thing that you do regurarly.

bmw use a redline product to clean fuel injectors! and I have found aldon octane booster to be useful when I can't get super unleaded! - this was originally developed to prevent knock in highly tuned sports cars when 5 star petrol was withdrawn! now days it has a resurgence in the jap sports / rally import market.

I use Redex on my cars, and they've stayed healthy so I can only go by that, but we used to use Forte products when I ran my own garage, and that stuff alone helped a fair few cars pass an MOT they otherwise would have failed...

Try the Redline one that BMW recommends / uses it is a one shot itme that has worked for me and cleared the problem with a friends Renault!

failing that I would use an ultrasonic bath!
