Default Who knows anything about Porsche 911 Carerra 2 996

I have been offered one of these...

Its an early one 1998 on an R reg, quite high miles 130k but looks to have been well maintained etc etc

Its also the manual version not the Tiptronic.

I was thinking of maybe doing a deal with it on my Evo but need some advice really.

Cheers,

Mark

my mate mots porsches for a local prestige dealer. main problems are due to poor service and maintenence. look for oil leaks as well.

They knock bottom ends ( non rebuild able ) due to the crank seal failing ( rear seal ) so look for leaks in that area now. Problem with these is the relatively cheap so aren't getting looked after aswell as they should. Parts are still proper money

Have a look on 911 uk & pistonheads Porsche section, they are generally good cars with some concerns over the rear crank seal leaking oil onto the clutch, but more worryingly the IMS (intermediate main shaft) bearings fail, which is engine out rebuild time at a big,big cost.

Plus they are dog slow
