Looked at Zaf GSI's...850 Volvo T5's...Transit toreano's...
But just cant seem to settle on one.
So what else is out there that has ideally 7 seats maximum, Pettie or diesel, and can actually move its arse...for 5K or below..well ideally 1k![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
and that has the practicality of a family in mind?
Suggestion's would Be real appreciated.
Cheers all

2000-2006 galaxy, sharan or alhambra, all basically the same car, go for the 6 speed diesel, 130bhp is the best option, 150's are rare. Good engine, good on fuel and very practical, we had a galaxy for a few years, it was only a 115bhp as that's all I could find in the spec I wanted. Good car though, a remap helped it a lot.

Yeah i gotta say i do like the look of them, plus can still have a bit of boost an all, keep me happy.
Trouble is a low milage black one, in A1 un-messed with, for below 7k is ni on non existant.
Not a great deal of love about for them neither....they do have a bit of a bad rep an all...??
Look the bollox though

My old girl has a t reg ford galaxy 2.3 petrol. Great car and shed loads of space. I've had many a car parts in the back too inc a frst boot and bonnet and both bumpers in one go before no problem.
Ours is a mk1 galaxy but if you want something a bit up to date the mk2's are great inside I looked at one and every seat had double armrest and felt like a sofa to sit in
As for fuel economy I got all the way from Watford to Oban Scotland on a single tank of juice
Steer clear of the 2.8 v6s though as they cane fuel
They also done the mk1 in a si model which has rear upper spoiler, side skirts and a front bumper splitter too which makes them look a lot nicer
Hope this helps

Testing the future

i've got a 2.3 galaxy with lpg conversion and it's a good compromise between economy and a little bit of poke. can't fault it mechanically, interior is tired but that because it's not ford quality, it's shit VAG quality

The problem with a zafira is that their a great motor but when you put the back row of seats up you have no boot whatsoever, which is a pain.
Galaxy does everything better really with the vw pd tdi in it,which is the best diesel of that generation.
Merc ml's are getting cheap now but beware that when they break (which they will) they do get expensive, and no more than 30mpg in derv form but drive nice and plenty of room for the kids, good safe motors too.

Toyota Lucida - I bought one for £1200 last year fixed the door handles serviced it and replaced the brakes pads and after taking the extended family on a 1500 mile road trip and 2 trips to London sold it for £950 3 months later! I was happy as car hire would have been a lot more! They are cheap honest cars - the diesel is economical to run and being Jap imports they have all the toys!
