Default 360 vs 270 turbo bearing

Can anyone explain what the advantage is please?

is it simply for more oil circulation?

if so can ANY Cosworth turbo accommodate it as a simple swap?

I'm referring to a stage 1 turbo technics T3 (S113)

Thanks

It is basically a thrust bearing in the turbo that normally covers approx 270 deg of the rotation and the centre housing is machined to accommodate a bearing that covers the full 360 deg of rotation. Only advantage is that it can handle more boost as I presume the load on the shaft is more evenly spread due to increased support. I have a s111 stage 2 hybrid on my car it's ideal for stage 1 or stage 3 chip

When the turbo comes on boost the shaft is 'thrusted' forwards, the load is put onto the thrust bearing (normally a thrust washer between the 2) a 360 bearing offers more support as the the load is spread over a bigger area, think of a 270 bearing as a pizza with a slice missing, 90 degrees of the support area is missing of there.
Some modern turbos have 360 bearings with big oil cut outs, this can cause premature wear.
