Right folks.
Im seriously considering breaking my 106 cosworth project, basically reason been its been a complete nightmare from day 1 due to various reasons, the amount of money involved in the car with no enjoyment from it, apart from the hand full of times i drove it in standard spec from buying it, there is still a fair chunk to spend to finish it aswell.
The money part isnt really the main problem, its just its dragged on far to long and its actually got me stressed in the process, the missus has been very patient but has also agreed it would probably be best to stop with the build, she has told me to buy something complete, like a well spec'd 3 door or Escos.
My decision will be made in the next couple of days, and from then a big list of some very nice parts will be up for grabs.
My only concern basically will be the shell, it will be completed soon by AG so, how would it sell best? Painted? Rolling? i just dont no, as all the running gear is wrc spec.
Its a real shame if i go ahead and break and i will be gutted but at the same time relieved to be honest.
Thanks Robert

Take a break away from it all and come back when you regain some enthusiasm.
I'm mid build with my car, what will be a strong speced c20let corsa and I have considered getting rid for an evo 7/8 and know how you feel, but the buz when it finally works will be worth it as will the satisfaction that you built it.

Just shelve the project, but maybe sell a few bits off it to help pay for a half decent cossie and enjot that for 6 months and see how you get on, then you can always sell that and go back to it again?

What does folk think the shell would be worth?
106 cosworth 4x4, AG motorsport conversion same setup as the focus, WRC rear end/GRPA front end tunnel to suit FFD but will run basically any other type of cosworth box.
Complete shell painted and fitted with proper carbon roof with roof bars.
Rolling it will consist of all new MK motorsport components - uprights x 4 with bearings and proper grpa sleeved flanges - full grpa front tca/comp struts/steering arms - rear again all the right setup - proflex 3 way WRC dampers, bladed roll bars front/rear, WRC topmounts.
Internally- pedal box- corsa eps rack - full proper cage - hyd handbrake
Bespoke Grpa crossmember which stands me £1200 this enables the normal engine mount position and not chassis mount, bespoke to enable the usage of 2wd rack, multi tca positions, and suit big diff, roll bar mounts.
Thanks Robert

Wow thats an impressive spec.
That lots got to be 15-20k. But would someone pay that?
Think you've got to set a price in your head and put it up for sale and see what interest you get.
I think the only people that would be interested in a car with such a high spec would be motorsport competitors.
it would make one hell of a Sprint car

bin it off for sure! get something that makes you smile ALL the time.
I don't chop and change toys as I get attached to them and am really happy with my current fleet, but I reckon thats the best way. Just keep buying selling and owning and experiencing and enjoying.
Cars I think you should defiantely experience.
Nissan GTR
Lotus ExigeS
Caterham
Evo 6
Gallardo
F430
TVR Tuscan
Viper
F355
Clio V6
TVR Griffith
Focus RS
911 Turbo
911 GT3
Cayman
if you really need to scratch the itch... Escos or 3dr but dont get sucked in! it will end in tears!
and thats just off the top of my head!
rather than having loads of money tied up in something thats just stress and no fun... use the money to own stuff you can drive and enjoy or maybe just stare at!
Get rid. Your other half with appreciate fun drives out in a classic or lovely classy sports car alot more than the noisy/smelly/unreliable but fast Pug!
Been there with project cars... never again!
Nice standardish cars that are stress free and always make you smile are 10000% the way forward.
Thats why I havent stuck an Audi turbo engine in the back of my Lotus..... yet

Proper wise words.....
dont mean t offend,
but once i saw the spec you was taking it too, i was gutted as deep down i knew it would never get completed
and it looks stunning and i would love to own that car with around 400bhp, as i think thats perfect for it.
agree with marting, down grade the spec, sell off any expensice parts and enjoy it,
failing that, follow porkies advice,
though you need something quicker than a exige S as my pug is quicker around comve than one

not alot your pug isnt quicker than mate! its a totally awesome car!
Although I dont remember ever going up against it in the dry to be honest? be fun to try, they aren't balls of fire, but they go well.
oh... and you can jump in an Exige and drive to Germany with ease in relative comfort... or take it to a posh country hotel with a bird on board and not look a wally... and the roof comes off for open top fun.
Can your Pug do all those?

Yes my mate Max has got one. driven it few times. Including drifting it around Bedford.
Its a real real hoot. So much presence for the money. a real event. gearchange is soooooo slow and its comically bad in some ways. But I love it. so does he. He paid less than £30k!
he has now sorted suspension and brakes and got sticky tires... and its genuinely a quick track car now. I prefered it when it was slower around track and was a total handful and sideways everywhere!
I wouldnt wanna own one for long as an only toy.... but I'd definately like to own one for a bit and experience and enjoy it! he has a matching yellow mustang as well

Fuel is expensive no doubt.... but people get soooooooo hung up on it wrongly
show some one in the street a brand new Mondeo turbo diesel and Max's 2002 Viper and ask them whats cheaper to run for the year. Tell them the Viper does 8mpg... or less!
They will all say the Mondeo of course!
wrong.... the Mondeo will depreciate horrifically! looses like £10k in its first year.
Vipers are properly cheap to look after as they are proper understressed old tractors really and dont break really. Tyres are main cost if you like rolling burnouts
All these idiots running around buying brand new Polo blue motions because they do 60mpg and so they think they are saving money are sooooo thick!
Get a Viper! save money! wont depreciate at all! more fun to pop to Tescos in as well

i'd never get a brand new car, would make me cry driving it, know how much i loosing every day
viper is an old favorite of mine,, used to have a poster on my wall when they came out
