Default Cossie open exhaust

Well,

I have just tested th noise level of my exhaust...........

Its a Cossie on a 3" bore stainless open pipe that side exits at the drivers rear door.

It read (on a proper db meter) between 95 - 97db. I was quite surprised but also pleased too.

I did the reading at 4500 rpm with the meter right by the tail pipe.

I know NA engines can be very noisey but with Cossie's you have the turbo that dampens down alot of the raspy high level noise.

Don't get me wrong, its loud but not what I expected - it should pass nearly all track days as they tend to be 105db normally. I know Brands is 98db in the evening.

Not sure what drive by will be like tho?

Here a "straight off the turbo" exhaust I arranged for a customer of mine (Pectelboy) in his MKII RS2000 with Cosworth YB Turbo fitted

And here is the twin box 3" system with NO restrictions anywhere in system - the silencer boxes have 3" pipework straight through them as well

Cool
They both sound quieter than mine but that might be to do with the Mic etc. I was tempted to exit further forward.

If I ever move the engine back and fit a floor mounted pedal box I will exit the turbo, turn left and come out the drivers wing.

So, were these road or track cars? If road you must have a friendly tester

Its the same car

I designed the exhausts to be interchangeable

And when I carry out the MOT test the car always has the "road" system fitted

Being 2 box it is extremely quiet and Pectelboy should never have any problems with noise at track days or on the road

The straight out slash pipe is another matter - lol

Possibly, I had thought that. For mot it will be just low revs for gas test and no load.
Track will be different. Under load my drive by db might go sky high.
Will get it insured and on the road for testing.
