Default Is it illegal to hook front fog lights to headlights/sidelights

Hi Guys,

Basically as you can see from the picture below i have a Mk3 fiesta with the SI bumpers that ive just fitted.

Basically my problem is there is no wiring to wire them to the fog light button in the car, so i'd have to do my own, and I really havn't got the time at the moment

So basically I was wondering if its legal to wire the front two fog lights to my headlights or sidelights, as thats an easy thing to do?

Seems a bit pointless having the lights there doing nothing, and I think they would look smart if they were wired to the headlights!

you cannot use them unless visability is less than 100 metres (328 feet) and its my understanding that if an item is there it must work correctly.

Yes it will fail, if they are there they should work, just remove them before the MOT.

only rear fog MUST be working to pass an MOT, the fronts are not needed for a pass.

If fitted to head/side lights then that would case issues as mentioned.

Wire them up correctly via foglight switch relay etc.

dont go driving round with wanker lights on all the time. You will look like a wanker and probably be confused as to why people suddenly put on full beam to blind you.

As said above wire them up correctly as just wiring them into the side light feed will just cause the fueses to keep blowing.

I usually drive with my dip beams on all the time.

Unlike fogs they're aimed properly so dont cause glare, or annoy other road users, and can only improve your visibility to others which reduces the chance that someone pulls out on you or cuts you up because they "didnt see you".

I share the sentiments above though about folk driving with front fogs. Especially the knobs who drive around at night with the front fogs and sidelights on, but dip beam off!

If you wanted to wire them in without using a seperate switch, then you could connect them to your Main Beam wires. I believe that would be perfectly legal, as you only ever use the main beam when theres no oncoming traffic and theres a nice blue indicator on the dash telling you there on.

They are unfocussed and dazzle easily hence the law stating its a FPN if you display them when you shouldnt

did you not get people deliberately blinding you with full beam for no apparent reason?

if someone has fogs on or refuses to dip their beams then i full beam the cunts.

if im getting dazzled then so are you Dont see why I should risk a crash due to someone elses inconsiderate behaviour and not be able to cause them hassle back.

Also by blinding them back maybe one day they will wonder "why do people keep blinding me?" and make the connection between being a cunt and people treating them as such.

The most irritating things in the world are those fucking ridiculous fogs that come on when you turn a corner on new cars to help you see the road better.
????????
What next,a stereo that tunes into rave at night to stop you sleeping at the wheel or tries playing enya when your driving aggressively to slow you down?
