Your moving the goalposts here Westy as then sites mentioned above don't have the kind of traffic this site gets....And as stu says it needs cold hard cash to keep runiing! Don't agree with making the whole forum gold members only though....seems a bit pointless imo.

Westy,
seriously, just a thought. What difference will it make, if we can all access all areas (except being able to advertise) ?
You keep saying that.
What areas cant you access that are bothering you?
Games Room
Adult rooms
& technical Essays are the long standing ones.

Do you really have such a huge problem in not having these rooms? And if so, why arent you willing to pay 5.4p a day for em?

And how exactly are you not rewarded already ? Have you not ever asked a technical question that once answered by passionford folks saved you lots of pounds/trouble/etc... ?

Exactly

The sole reason I paid my membership, is that without PF my car would not be on the road, it would now be scrap, broken into hundreds of pieces.
The amount of advice I have received has been invaluable, and that's not because I have access to the extra rooms.
£20 in return for a saved half day trip to a garage is well worth it in my opinion, even if it gets me no further in the future.

It would work fine now. All the people prepared to pay up have done so. Paying for a forum says to me someone isn't going to shit where they eat. People expect everything on the net to be free and that's why most stuff on the net is just junk, because it is free. You should just be glad you have such a popular and valuable general discussion forum to post on because if it wasn't for those that have invested in PassionFord it may not have existed.

Exactly, and there isnt a single post of knowledge in there that isnt worth the £20 all on its own. There is one of the major benefits of becoming a gold member IMO. Thees even a pictorial YB cambelt change tutorial type topic.. VERY USEFULL as anyone who has bent their 16valves will testify, not to mention the YB technical manual section by section that a member reproduced for us..

Also, all the posts in there were discussed in gen dis or in the technical forums and brought to a conclusion before moving there. That is more an archive area of usefull topics. Non are started there, so regular members have probably participated in em anyway.

You can send me a £20 in the post if you wish?
Cheque will take even longer as it requires clearance time and doesnt start until i next do some banking.

A mate with paypal is a common option.
