Question Skoda fabia 1.2

As some of you may know, I passed my driving test yesterday.
Anyways, I've spent a good few hours looking for insurance on many different cars.
The skoda fabia 1.2 came up the best @3k.
Just wondering what they're like?
Anything to look out for?

Thanks,
Tom.

3k cheapest

Try putting a parent on as a named driver, this can lower the premium (although don't be tempted to do it the other way round as this is illegal).

My first car 12 years ago was a Rover 216 GSI, cheaper than novas, AX's etc to insure, plenty quicker too!

I'm pretty sure mk1 fiestas are cheaper.
Fabia is a good motor,no rust issues etc and just the usual checks really,I'll put up a thread on retrorides as there's a few skoda boys on there.

Yeah 3k. think its to do with the postcode really.
Tried to insure my escort & they wanted 5800, changed the address to my brothers in Scotland & it was £2000ish.
Just had a look into that black box thing, load of piss it is! £3200 + £600 installation fee.

As said mk1 fiestas are cheap to insure but prices of parts are shooting up, and panels are rare

A mate of mine has got insured on a pug 205 1.0 for just under 2k. Not a great car but cheap n easy to fix.. can always chuck a mi16 in it

Do what I did... Not bother with a car. Seriously mate, they take the piss. I bought a moped to build up a no claims bonus for a car next year

I've thought about a bike or trike but its really not practical.
Tbh, I'm happy with the 3k quote, I'll ring em up & see if I can it a little cheaper.
Just wondered what they're like, quite nice looking cars.

Well they're not exactly sexy cars like my bad boy escort or anything but if it's 3k a year cheaper than my cheapest quote of £5800 than I can't really complain if it's a bit ugly, aha.

I like the Fabia's to. Most of the *cough* older *Cough* people on here will slag them off because of when they were crappy little commie crates.

Agree with the bikes being impractical but really paying all that for insurance is a pisstake.

Yeah I quite like em, the other half said they're okay looking cars so it's a step forward.
Just gotta bit the bullet really, I need 4 wheels.
If money gets tight then I'll get a hair dryer.

Can't believe how expensive insurance for youngsters is now!!

I paid £700 to insure my Orion Equipe when I was 17!! That was 13 years ago now though.

I already have a mk3 escort but it's a killer on insurance for some reason.
What age is it for classic insurance?

I've found a cheaper quote for a different car......a Citroen c1 haha!

don't forget on classic insurance policies you don't get any no claims bonus.

As DarylC said, wouldnt bother even trying to get insured yet, had my license a year now and still getting the most ridiculous insurance quotes ever seen, buying a bus pass instead

Think im just going to save up until i'm 21, then get on a traders.

Okay so i had a little play around seeing as i havent had a quote since May/June.

This is the car in question, i dont want this car, but you'd expect it to be cheap to insure right? Its purple ffs, id lose all pride driving it, but if its cheap ill drive it. So i sold this car about 6 months ago, taxed and tested, 48k miles for £850.

£850 to buy, so how can they even justify insurance quotes like this

Third Party Fire and Theft;

Third party only is just fucking ridiculous

Thats all legit details, L30 postcode (Liverpool), aged 19, had licence at least a year, Baker (maybe thats a lie, shh), 5000 miles a year.

Now all you fuckers that moan its gone up to £800, be happy!

Those are the sort of quotes I've been getting for all the cheap to insure cars (so google said)
Cheapest one was a c1 @ £2500 a year.
Skoda was £3100
I've gotta wait a year until I can go on the boss' trade, that's if they don't put it up to 25.
Tried a quote on an escos, they would insure me for 78,000! :O
