Default Audi rs 6 front brakes

Need to upgrade them so what is the best option?

Currently looking at a £550 bill for discs and pads

And the discs are prone to warping.

It may make sense to get a set of discs/bells for it, maybe floating discs if possible.

£550 doesn't sound bad for replacement discs/pads.... that's not motor factor pattern parts though is it?! I'd want some proper gucci stuff trying to stop something that quick/heavy if it was me.

Cheers,

Only good thing about OEM parts, is they will have a warranty. A friend had to use it on some RS4 discs. Although it was a ballache to get them to cover it, but eventually they did and fitted new discs/pads.

The idiot at the dealer inspecting them claimed he'd never seen an RS4 with warped discs as they are better designed than other models....despite then having the same bloody discs as most other high end Audi cars !!
When this point was put to him....he didnt know what to say. SO clearly he was trying a tactic to avoid having to stand over the warranty

Motor factors will likely sell dung

TPS shouldnt be that much more than you've already been quoted, and are factory parts

http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/

But then, even some custom discs/bells would be around £600 for a pair too.

Doesnt that answer your own question ?

Depends what you're calling an upgrade though. I'm just talking about replacement discs/bells as an alternative to OEM replacements, as price probably wont be that much different, and the OEM's do warp

It could be considered an upgrade, or simply an alternative option.

Or if really skint, get your own skimmed ?

i'm asking about the upgrade as i've heard a lot about lots of people "upgrading" rather than replacing the standard discs because the brakes, as good as they are, simply aren't enough to stop such a heavy car

i've been on the phone to reyland this morning but it's been busy for ages so i gave up, but i would have thought martoon would have been able to offer some advice, seeing as he has been known to know a thing or two about cars

Sounds like it needs proper pads and fluid.

Mine have been used hard on a good few trackdays and they have never warped despite setting the pads on fire at the Nurburgring GP track. 034 motorsport do some nice replacement rotors, as do Loba.

Upgrade with Ceramic disks and pads,

Cayenne calipers and S8 385mm disks

C6 RS6 disks and calipers

or do you mean upgrade without spending money?

if so ebay and good luck

OEM Disks come up on Group buys on Audi forums from time to time

"alternative" disks and pads are available good quality from EBC and Brembo, pads get OE, all in all should be about £200 if i remember rightly from the ones i used to fit for customers

As sean says you can get cheap replacements and made by Brembo! No more than £200 for fronts.

when i say upgrade i was thinking of getting stoppers that would fit the standard set up but just be better discs and pads that are less prone to wearing out so quickly

so spending £550 at a motor factors isn't such a bad idea then? assuming they are proper brembo or the like discs?

what about the pads then? same story?

thanks for the info when spending money on stuff like brakes, i've learnt the hard way to ask before i part with any money

Posts above seem to suggest a pair of Brembo fronts are only £200 ?

550, man I thought it would be way more than that!!!!
I can't speak from an Audi perspective but the M5 brakes are shiiiiite IMO, whatever you do, don't buy cheap aftermarket crap, false economy for the sake of saving 100 quid, you'll regret it. OEM or Brembo with uprated pads, fluid and lines.

Motor factors will sell aftermarket and original equiptment parts, it's the customers who choose to buy aftermarket "dung" as most buy top end cars and won't spend the money on OE spec parts.

got dropped off in it to the airport, lets just say the only reason it's not rapid is because the brakes squeal like a fucking fingernail down a blackboard

plus the steering is juddery as fuck

when i get back i'll be on the blower and see if my mate can pick them up, no phone means i can't text him the info now

cheers
