Andy won 4wd,the grey/silver corsa won fwd and i saw stevieturbo win but unsure if it was semis or finals.
Not as busy as other years but the cars are getting better those GTIRs are something else.

Andy did take the win.

Most impressive of all tho was some of the new gtr skylines. One Severn valley car clocking 208mph in 1km.
Andy and another skyline did 202.4mph I think.

So so fast !

That bonnet spoiler must provide a good bit of downforce!

Despite not being overly busy, for me it was one of the best years I have been. The competition looked pretty close throughout the day and I had the opportunity to put some faces to names from a few different places.

I can afford to fix mine but have no interest whatsoever in an event like totb. I prefer vmax send Specky along to that & see how he gets on .
Even that Skyline would not beat the fastest ffs Porsche record (222mph)so fast cars enter that event as well. However they are like mine road cars fully trimmed & driven to the event. Im preparing mine to run at Vmax early next year. Totb is now a long way from this, i didnt even take a tool kit when i entered yet came runner -up RWD drag today these cars have Formula 1 style pit crews/workshop if they want to win, fraid my Missus is a bit old to change a diff in 10 minutes these days.

Rod your so far out its untrue. Obviously alot of the tuners cars are stripped out race cars but one of those GTRs, I think the one that did the 208 in 1km was a completly standard looking, fully trimmed road car still.
Plus look at those drag times, handling circuit and top speed runs for RWD. Your car could easily compete with those with the right driver.

Looking at results, 3 fords competed, plus the NMS sunbeam, well Done to Stevie winning what he did and Karl on the handling with the sunbeam.

Oh god, same old bullshit and excuses from people who seem to have no idea about the event.
I went this year for the first time in a few years, and yeah, all this 'tuner 100k cars' thing is shit.
And people look back at TOTB 1-3 with rose tinted specs, it was no different then- The BIG money cars still dominated.

The only difference is the other scenes have moved on and progressed, where as others just sit back making excuses on the internet.

Good on Stevie for taking part, that's a serious car.

Stunning car though, almost too good condition to be racing !!

The new Skyline GTR's from Severn etc were almost unbelievable. Quickest were running mid 9's around 160mph.
One managed 202.4mph over the 1km as did Andy Forest.

But one of the GTR's managed 208mph which is unreal. It did have a stripped interior, race seats etc. But I hardly imagine there is that much weight saved. They are still very heavy cars which makes their performances all the more impressive. They are making some serious power.

One even decided to do some victory donuts across the 1km finish line :O

No idea what was going on with that car in the video. There was a light headwind, nothing at all to cause concern. I did my 200mph runs at Woodbridge with much much worse and on a moss covered track.

But at TOTB conditions were about as good as you would want. I dont think any of them were using silly tyres either.
The 208mph was on M+H's but the rest were more conventional tyres.

You wouldnt think the driver was causing the weaving, but clearly something was badly wrong. That simply should not have happened
Certainly my own at only 177mph felt totally stable. Although mine does have a 2.8i front and real spoiler. And I did put my aerial down, so that made mine more aerodynamic.

I had in car camera, but the stupid fucking piece of shit video camera just turned into a blur once the engine was running.
Useless SD card piece of shit. I had the entire day's runs recorded in car, and every single one is useless !!!

First top speed was on 888's but lack of grip at the start did hurt things and was just over 170 I think.

Put the Hoosier radials on after that which did help a bit. Couple of runs later and got up to 177.4

A couple of years ago though I was at 182mph over the 1km, so there is still room for improvement.
I downsized the engine this year and fitted a much milder cam, largely to make it nicer and quieter for road use. I may have gone a little too far though lol
I'd like to see it around 185-190 over 1km.

Then of course I'll have a new goal......

yeah you normally fly on the topspeed runs ,still well done for best rwd ,i know the old concrete is alot slower than the pod for rwd and fwd cars i would say anything from 1 to 1 and half seconds on the quarter, but still some very good times, get the wilder cam back in and a bit more boost in the charger,
I take it the welding held together lol

Great results Stevie, your car sounds nuts.

Good to catch up with a few people, really enjoyed the day out.

Those GTR's are seriously impressive, I can only imagine how much faster they will be in 12 months time !

It is an abrasive surface, but 2wd just stuggle on it. By best 60ft from the weekend was 1.98. I think that's the first time Ive ever got under 2secs at Elvington.
Can do 1.5s at Santa Pod. The difference is like night and day. So there is an easy full second loss at Elvington over the entire run.
My fastest 1/4's at Elvington are actually with a 5.7 I threw together 2 days before the event. The smaller engines lack of power and torque just helped so much with traction it managed better times. It's just hard to find a balance between the two.
Seeing as downsizing didnt really help much, there's only one option for me. Aim for more power instead lol

It was weaving well before the boot came off though. And more to the point....just how does a bootlid fly off ? lol

There was talk earlier in this thread about the 100k cars....and there are quite a few.

But I really have to think that these new GTR's are 150-200k+ cars at that level

Definately.
Your talking Ł40 grand plus for a newish base car...!
While I do like a good 100k plus car... personally I would rather see a homebrew beast running fast times (just not 'as' fast)

Think that would be a big brown pants moment in that skyline .

Agree with the cost of the gtrs. Serious money in them at that sort of power level. Be near 100k just for the car an engine alone never mind box upgrades an things

Well looking at this years.

Fastest rwd around the handling, a 30+ year old Sunbeam ?
Fastest rwd on 1/4, a 32 year old Granada
Fastest rwd on 1km, a 32 year old Granada
Second fastest rwd on 1/4, a 70's Opel Kadett

So where are all the modern rwd sports cars ? lol
