I didn't know people still bothered with this or that it was still running to be honest.

Fucking doubt it, doesn't it clash with a round of time attack? Its a shame, some of the old skool fords would show them up!

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that, its just time for tuners to show off again, whilst their customers (the people who should be competing) get nowt.

But I'm not a tuner with a 100k demo vehicle (that was the argument in the 1st place), although I do know you have done very well there, and I have a lot of respect for you and your car

Yes, but numbers have fallen over the last few years. There are big tuner cars, but there are also a lot of private entries.
The biggest issue with entries seems to be, and this happens at many events. People who who blab about making big numbers on a dyno, or about how fast their car could be....are scared to enter in case they get proved wrong.

If people dont enter then it's kind of hard to listen to them moan about people who have entered.
The solution is simple, enter and show them how it's done. There is only a very small handful of cars capable of winning the event and always will be. So really...would you be going with the intention of winning ? hardly.

So just go and enjoy the day for what it is. A day where you can get to race and enjoy your own car, and fuck everyone else.

This largely seems to be a Ford thing. I was a spectator at Central Ford day a few years ago when I came over with a friend who was racing at Santa Pod.
It had the biggest crowds I'd seen at Santa Pod, more cars than any event I'd been to. Yet the queue for the strip the entire day was about 2 minutes. WTF ??
Seemed pointless holding the event at a drag strip when nobody was racing.

I actually stopped going to big events there myself, as the last one I did I had to queue for 2 hours to get a single run !
And that was over an entire weekend, Saturday from morning til 9pm then again Sunday. I actually got fucked off queuing on the Sunday and gave up as I'd spent the entire day and a half there doing nothing but queue to race.

I am with you on big tuner cars and entries. But if the little guys dont even try and enter, it's never going to change.
It's also why Trevor has started a RWYB on the Saturday, with the quickest guys getting a free entry to TOTB the next day.
To encourage people to actually just have a go.

As for 100k...I doubt it even comes close on some cars lol

Of course as soon as you create a winner other Tuners want to take the title back. If you made it customers only they would lend there best cars to the customers. Why would a Tuner come 2nd if he can win.
100k wont get near to winning totb.

Im going to it and looking forwards to it. Other then Time Attack there aint alot of places to see some very quick tuner style cars getting used properly.
Plently of people in other car comunitys seem to be able to have a race series (MLR especially with its sprint series) where peoples attitudes seem to be about having fun in there own cars and dont make it all about the "if im I cant win im not going to take part". Perhaps more Ford owners need to adopt this attitude too and start to enjoy their cars.

TOTB Sunday you need to pre-enter. Generally this is via car forums/clubs where they try to get ten entries from each club
But there are private/invite entries available. www.totb.co.uk

The Saturday is a RWYB and open to everyone. Not sure if all places are filled there or if you can enter on the day. I suspect you would be able to enter on the day.
And some of the fastest entries on Saturday get a "wild card" free entry to TOTB on the Sunday.
or something along those lines.

You can win totb easily wi less than 100k specky and Kiel showed that. Thing is ford lads are scared to brake stuff because of the rarity and cost the replace. Vauxhall on the other hand make mass power and drive them like they stoleThem cos stuff is easier and cheaper to get hold of. But IMO why tune your car to the tits and be scared to use it. If u can't afford to fix it don't tune it so much

Neither of those cars would or could ever win TOTB. It will always be a 4wd car unless someone builds a particularly special mid-engined rwd car.

Otherwise 2wd will never stand a chance.

And I suspect both of the cars you mention would be a lot closer to that 100k figure than you might realise.

There could of been one way on winning it cheap(er), Rocket Ronnie wanted 40k for his, and that run a 9.8 as a full weight car. Spend a little on lightweight panels, strip it out, could easily loose 100kg+, that might of done it (well, it did it 3 times). Don't think its for sale any longer though.

Sorry forgot to say in their catagory. They both already have won it fwd. Over all winner yes prob would be shed loads of money. But saying that luck plays a big part at totb. As its on street tyres the higher power cars suffer more as they often only perform on slicks.

100kg will make little odds. Ronnie's car was mega fast 10 years ago, and still very very fast today.

But this years winner will be pulling 200+ in the 1km and running mid-low 8's in the 1/4"

Ronnie's car will be no match for that.

The "street tyre" rule only really affects the 2wd runners. 4wd cars it will make little difference
And as they allow drag radials, certainly in a straight line these are effectively slicks. Just the surface is no match for Santa Pod. But again, this does only really affect 2wd runners, on average to the tune of 1sec compared to the same car at Santa Pod over the 1/4

Stevie are you going again this year?

Im expecting Andy Forrest to dominate the 1/4 and topspeed events and I think if the Lateral Banana is fixed after its off at a recent hill climb, Steve Darley may take the overall win in that.

All being well I'll be there.

TBH unless Andy has a breakage of some sort, he will dominate the entire event. As fast as Steven and the Banana are, Andy's car is in another league, and he certainly knows how to drive too.
He's already proven 8.4 at 170 at Santa Pod, and it's no slouch around a track either.

Of course, one other thing could happen which will affect everyone....it could rain ! lol

Stevie ive seen both videos before hand. AFP will destroy everything 1/4 and topspeed no doubt in mind, but although he is reasonably quick on the handling, I dont think he'll place high enough in that catergory to take the OA. Steve Darley on the other hand im expecting to be in maybe the top 2/3 of every category which I think could get him the OA.

I guess we'll find out on Sunday though. Looking forwards to seeing your car there, its always a croud pleaser

Would be surprised if the AFP car doesn't take it to be honest, although I'm looking forward to seeing what the JGM H6 twin turbo can do.
