Default New to escorts..need some help (mk1)

Hello everyone..

Im new to old fords so im looking for some advice.

Me and my brother have been given an 1968 mk1, 2 door, 1.3 (unsure of what exact model)

The car is in reasonable condition for its age...only needing 3 or 4 bits of welding.
1- drivers inner a post
2- drivers side strut top area
3- small part on rear scuttle panel
4- passenger floor has been previous patched but the welding and patch is not up to scratch so it will be sorted

Anyway... As i dont know much about mk1's (ive been looking on here for ages trying to gather ideas and learn more)

Our plan is to strip it back to bare and set it up on a jig
get the areas needing welding done
then paint etc and building it back up
also have a 1600 xflow and i think its either 40 or 45 delortos

Just have a few questions.
When it comes to rebuilding the 1600xflow where is the best place to buy replacement parts?
Im wanting to if there are any reasonably priced places to buy replacement panels and uprated parts?
Is there any MUST have mods/uprated parts to do the chassis etc while its stripped?

thanks for any help

That will be a long way away yet. After reading 100's of different project threads on here..the list of things you can do to these cars these days are endless!
I dont want to spend a massive fortune..just want it looking good, decent 1600 running the delortos and maybe a few small chassis modifications along with some minilites.

What wheels were you using? were looking at using either minilites or superlites about 13" so i wouldnt imagine that brake set up will fit under them?
