Whats a t4 equipped car like to live with, I have been contemplating what to do with my car and really fancy having a t4 fitted on my recently rebuilt 2wd engine with multi layer head gasket and 4wd pistons being only engine mods. It does already have genuine 500 cooler and mongoose exhaust. I would probably fit a 4wd plenum to help breathing and go with a level 8 ecu with wasted spark and possibly closed loop.
Does a t4 at lower boost give a more reliable car than a t3 running much higher boost for same power or is reliability more power related than boost.
Any advice appreciated.
if its a street car dont bother using a t4.. tooo laggy .. you have to make an effort to keep it in boost otherwise low power cars will be keeping up. ideally id use a t34 at 2 bar boost to make a proper road car.. less lag.. alot of power and proper punch!! t4 is for open long dual carriageways where top end counts.. tbh its a shit set up
Shit is slightly harsh i think lol, yes you have to work them to get the most out of it and i would think its pretty pointless on a standard spec engine, but with the right specced engine they're awesome when they're on song! Imo of course
You just have to learn to drive them differently that's all, different people want different things from a car, i personally love my set up, another person may not lol.
it will be awesome if you drive it accordingly, if you dont want to rev above 6000 rpm then dont bother, but if ur happy to hit 7500 rpm then it will be quick.
I think the twin roller bearing t4 is better , comes on boost a bit earlier. Don't forget the cams make a big difference to how it drives ! Mine's getting mapped at msd as we speak and that comes on boost well
Unless you are going all the way with a proper motor to suit I wouldn't bother, I used to run a T4 on a totally standard engine and looking back now it was a total waste of time!
T4 on a properly specced engine is awesome, I use gav diamonds graph alot as it pulls 30-32 psi at 3500 on the dyno which will be 3700-3800 in the car and has 540bhp at 7500 and 510 at 8000 I'll put the graph up.
But in general they are a little laggy, you have to get the, nice and hot to have them working well and work in the real world from 4-8k
I love them but the gt series is a more usable turbo on the road, particularly a 3071
for those normally aspirate lovers and turbo haters try removing the turbo and upping the comp ratio then you'll have lag all the way to the rev limiter
