What fuel pump is it and is it smoking on boost or off? Bet that's awesome at 1.5 bar lol

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
1.5 bar of turbo pressure wont make any difference to power , all it does is cut down the smoke , its the fuel pressure / amount that makes the power not the air / mixture , opposite on a diesel to a petrol
to reduce the fuel - there is normally a round housing on the underside of the pump which has an allen type head and a small locknut , this is the on boost fuel advance , slacken off the locknut and wind the thread back in a turn or 2 and see if it still smokes
also , running 1.2 bar of turbo boost may well kill the head gasket , i ran my tdi powered mk4 at about 15-16psi and it soon pressurised the header tank so i knocked it back down to about 11 psi , has done 30k miles like this with no issue (fueling set up to match)

Check your fuel pump and fuel injector. I suspect you may have problem in your fuel injector. You can get fuel pump at http://www.carpartswarehouse.com/car...Fuel_Pump.html Also try to fit your your turbo.

right first off bungle, its a lucas cav pump, and smokes whilst boosting, an yeah its a great laugh, bit unpredictable on wet roundabouts thou all the power comes in between 3 n 4 grand, n wont rev over 4200.
blue escort cossie, is it a little brass thing? as my mate wound that back in and it had no effect, there is a big allen key cover on the side but even with a spanner on the end of it i cant get it undone, my mate has tuned a lot of diesels and reckons i need to get that cover off to turn down the max fuel screw thats under it or something.
martie smartie, i didnt do nothing i bought it with a smoking problem and im trying to eliminate it, the other option is to intercool it and lob on a bmw 525tds turbo i have lying around to increase the amount of fuel that gets used, thus (hopefully) reducing the smoke out the back and adding more power
jeff collision, cheers for the link mate, one small problem though is that im in the uk, and i cant seem to find the right pump there.
cheers guys

Aha your mate is indeed correct. The best way I can describe it is to get the cover off and rotate the engine with the cover off (you WILL lose all the diesel in the pump when you take cover off so will need to prime it after) if you can't see into the hole with the cover off use ya mrs make up mirror but Ffs don't tell her and wipe off all traces of diesel lol. Inside the pump will be something that looks like a cam lobe you'll need a 4mm Allen key wind it anti clockwise 20 to 30 degrees depending how heavy it's smoking the above settings should be fine. Don't go mad though if you still want it pokey don't adjust the boost compensator on the pump ( that's the one with the 14mm lock nut) youll need to control the smOke off boost by not planting your foot in say 4th at 30mph lol don't worry about altering your actuator it's pointless you won't get more boost without more fuel so it won't make a bit of difference hope that helps
