Not trying to catch anyone mate, your asking to half the mileage and come up 3 years for 500?? Best of luck on that one mr I'm an m3 driver lol, hyundai coupes are fetching between 1500 and 2500 on done deal, urs has no nct and it seems you already got caught 3 mths ago otherwise u wouldn't be looking to change,

i went on to further say to him

Call into an opel dealer and see what they will quote u, I'm sure they could do with a good laugh, oh be sure to mention you drive a black M3, that will have them shaking in their boots

Sold all my cars privately (well apart from the ones i crashed) and never had any issues. Probably depends on what you're selling I suppose.

Makes me laugh, when selling my misses old mans pug 405 td estate for Ł350 with a full ticket and six months tax i got:

'does the car come with full service history and are there any marks on the paintwork'

At Ł350 and 20 years old, you should expect it to have been to the moon and back, to have not seen a main dealer since it last drove past one and more than the odd vicar has lent his bike against it in it's lifetime'.

Second idiot:
'will u swop 4 xbox init'

Sorry, cash or 4 camels and your daughters hand in marriage only'

This is Gumtree for you lol!!

That said, if you blank off the text'ers and the instant 'what you gunna take, lowest price yeh' idiots, you normally find a genuine buyer without too much trouble, and if you dont, either it is priced too high, or the pictures and description is w*nk.

Had some proper bad ones.

Was selling the engine from my Cossie a couple of years ago and put it on eBay as I wasn;t having much luck on the forums. Was a good runner, 200 block etc... A guy messaged me saying would I take Ł600. I politely said no - I wanted a lot more for it. He replied - "Are you having a laugh? It's not the '90s anymore, it's worth nothing like that. It's not even got the turbo on it."

I SO wanted to email him when it sold for Ł1300. Actually sold it to as really nice, honest guy as well!

Tell me about it. Whenever i'm selling a car I get silly part-ex offers. People always seem to expect top price for their cars. I have to remind them that for me to take something i'm not wanting in a part-ex, i'm doing them a favour and therefore the figures need to be stacked in my favour otherwise why should I bother?

Best one I had was some bloke offering a part ex of a 996 4S on my E36 M3. I say what figures have you got in mind? He wanted 10k on top. He valued his car at better than top book price as it was good condition while also taking 3k off the price of my M3.

Generally everything goes nice and smoothly, you just got to sieve the idiots out 1st.

The problem in the boom time was everyone wanted to boast about how expensive their car, house, vagina surgery cost, now the boast is how little they got it for and how well they fucked the seller over

All my sales have gone through apart from one

Was selling a Clio 16v with a blown gearbox - it would drive a little but the input shaft was shot so it was just advertised purely to collect on a trailer.
The lad who said he wanted the car and would come to collect with his mate, came 350 miles expecting to drive it back - i told him several times it won't get him back - it blew to pieces after 20 miles then a phone call complaining, young lad that thought he knew it all

ive noticed that with lots of things, not just cars. You advertise it cheap and you just get scum trouble with it. It seems to put off the decent buyers as they think somethings wrong or its too good to be true and brings it into the price range of the clowns.

once you have something in the "cheap" price range, people seem to expect the world for fuck all

When i did kitchen fitting a while back, we found the cheap kitchens we occasionally did were the worst customers. They seemed to expect a show kitchen quality from a Ł1200 budget unit set...... Didnt bother doing cheaper kitchens from then on. Just wasnt worth what was probably 3 times the hassle.

Guys.

For everyone of you that is commercially astute and wouldn't dream of selling your cars cheaply there is 10 of you who will take a kick in the teeth.

When I buy a car I will always ask the question and come up with stupid reasons why the car should be cheaper and someone will always sell it cheaper.

It might not be you but it will be someone.

Why take it personally - it's just business.

Money is better in my pocket than yours - simple really, or do you always pay asking price. Course you do!!!!

theres a difference between saying "well its got a few dings and needs a cambelt so i can only offer xxx" and the complete bullshit spouted so often that makes no rational sense whatsoever.

And the cunt today who paid 3 grand for a 2002 Hyundai coupe with 180k miles on it and wanted 2500 in a trade when I can buy one down the road for 1500 to 1800, and wouldn't tell me why after only 3 mths he wanted rid of it and why there was no test on it, made zero sence

i advise him to buy a rope at the earliest convenience
trouble it i doubled my money but that car was mint and almost everything rs16 so worth a fortune now

I always seem to end up with the fucking muppets wanting my cars too.

Obviously i understand the need to haggle and anyone who doesn't is a bit soft, but don't come and be a complete twat. If you haven't got the money don't waste my time!

I thought this too.

No offence because it looks a nice car but i'd personally not pay anywhere near that for it.

Yeh but so what..

I try it on and you say no - I move to the next person who says yes. It's no skin off my nose.

AND conversely...

When I sell a car I deal with every dick head under the sun until I sell to the sensible person who offers what I want.... and every dick head before the guy who buys my car simply moves on to the next person who might sell their car cheaply.

It's the way of the world.... I'm not sure what you're all complaining about to be honest - like I said. You must all pay asking price all the time.

Anyone want a FRS - 67k - you're for Ł10k LOL

Might be that I have been lucky but the last 3 cars and 3 vans I have sold have all been pain free. Most haven't even wanted a test drive!

Selling another van soon so hopefully my luck will continue!

Foreigners when selling anything are the worst, they literally do want everything for free! We sold a Bora last year to a polish guy, came from London and had the cheek to ask if he bought it could he have Ł50 off for juice home!
