Default newbie What car?

hello everyone
im new on here and i need help, im 18 years old and about to sell my classic mini cooper and i need to get a car thats cheap on insurance because iv just got a new job as a apprentice and moneys abit tight my budgets only 2K and i think it might have to be a ford. my old man has had loads of classic fords and he said his favourite was his yellow mk1 capri but for a good one its quite expensive.
im not afraid of any work iv been working on cars since i was 13 and my new apprenticeship is a welder and fabricator
so what do you think?

Hello and welcome to passionford. You could try a mk5 zetec s fiesta, tyhey are very popular. Or an older car like a mk2 fiesta or a mk3 escort. Maybe a puma, but they could be a little steep on the insurance.

rs1800 fiesta if you can insure it. Hidden gem of fiestas. Future classic too. If you fixed it up you'd never lose money. They're the next big thing IMHO, wish I had space to store one

I'd be looking at a base spec mk1/2 Fiesta, get it sitting nicely on some Pepperpots.

Could soon drop an XR engine in, big carb and cam with fanimold and exhaust, period tuning ftw!

I think he meant a 2.0 Capri, or an Anglia

You can pick an Anglia up for your budget, it's never going to be a show stopper, but it'll be useable!

I personally prefer the 100E, not such a fan of the funky draw back rear window!
It's worth the effort of changing it to a x-flow, or do the extra work for a Pinto. Proper weapon with some twin 40's singing!

I'd check your local papers, shop adverts etc etc, never know when an old fella is selling one.
All the classifieds in the mags, Gumtree usually throws up a few I've found.
