mk4 xr3i engine in a mk3 PROBLEMS!?!
Hi all,
New to this forum malarky so please bare with me.
Have just made my self a fordian with a 86 xr3i cab but am gutted with a problem that's cropped up. 9sat for a year, passed mot, broke down on way home...)
When it gets warm, from idle I go to rev and it sounds as though it's chokin up. Revs wont build, sounds like its drowning. I've had a suggestion of it over-fuelling, one of air leak, one of poor fuel filtration, one of cold start sensore, all sorts. If it's left to cool down it still does it, unless it's been left to cool overnight. I had thought overheating, but it is far too random. I have been on long runs, short runs, left it idling, and can't find a common ground of when it starts each time.
This car is hopefully turning me into someone who knows what hes talking about with engines, not just the simple stuff.
Any help would be massively appreciated and advice on future posts, etc. so I dont piss you all off with shit posts!

Whip out the plugs and let us know the condition/colour.
Could be a massive amount of things from:
Work rotor/dizzee cap
Out of tune metering unit
Failing WUR (warm up regulator) - Tho usually you'd get issues at cold too if this was the case
Plugs will at least let us know if its going rich or lean
