F1 Star Gives £2 Pocket Money
Formula One legend Michael Schumacher has admitted that he gives his children under £2 a week pocket money - despite earning more than £40m a year himself.The German racing driver, who has won the world championship seven times, says that his two children Gina-Maria, aged eight, and Mick, five, need to realise that money has to be earned.The amount of pocket money - two euros which is about £1.37 - is in huge contrast to Schumacher's enormous fortune.
The world champion said: "They have to learn wealth isn't automatic.
"They get, just like other children, two euros allowance per week.
"They can either save it or but something they really want with it."
Mr Schumacher lives the most luxurious life money can buy with his family at their home in Switzerland.
But for all the perks of their lifestyle, his children would have to save a long time even to afford to buy themselves some of their father's official merchandise.
It would take them ten weeks to buy a Ferrari-endorsed teddy bear costing £13, two years, 20 weeks to buy a Formula One steering wheel costing £170 and an amazing 49,130 years to pay for a Formula One car costing £3.5m.

Fair play to him.
When i was a secondary school there was a guy in my school who i used to get one fairly well with.
He always had a secondhand bike, and cheap trainers etc, from which most people assumed he must be fairly hard up, and took no notice of him.
In reality his family were millionaires (in the 80s that meant something), but his dad just didnt want it effecting his son's life.
He grew up a very level head and unspoilt kid.

But if i was earning 40mil a year would i fuck bother with kids, ITS PARTY TIME
Then again im sure Jacko has earned 40mil a year quite often, and he bothers kids, and its party time for him at the same time

Daddy i bought this PS2 portable in school for 1 pound with my pocket money, the kid originally wanted 100 pounds for it.
Well done son for beating him down from 100 pounds to 1 pound.

Nothing wrong with teaching kids that money doesn't grow on trees
Bill Gates has stated that his kids will get "only" $10M in his will and that charities will benefit primarily.
Kids who have things handed to them don't appreciate the value of things because they didn't have to work for them.

well my dad used to drive me out to the top of a mountain on the coldest day of the year, chainsaw my legs off, throw acid in my eyes and lay broken glass and barb wire around me then leave me there with no clothes on. if I made it back the 25 miles hike home with no legs etc he would give me my 50 pence pocket money for the week.

More than I got at that age! I can remember getting 50p at about 6 years old and buying those crappy polystyrene kit planes from the news agent. Would take it home and launch it, straight over someones fence!
