For set up go across the bridge to interpro or moselys west wales if u can get him to look at a Cossie or Rs turbo these days! All the other rolling roads etc don't let them near a cosworth or Rs turbo as they don't know what their doing with them or have the relevant equipment! Iv been around them all with my Cossie over the years! I do everything myself now but go to interpro/ Harvey Gibbs if I need a set up or Harvey for a map. Oh and not all of us in Wales just fit coilovers and rollcages, loads of cossies between me and my mates and we go a bit further than that!

Mosely use to do RS Turbos back in the day, not been up there for a good 10 years so god knows what he's doing now, Tommy in Abercynon is great on the carbs, Craig @ Gotboost is great (he mapped the Mrs Ka when he was doing Unichip), I don't think he does conversions but he does tuning and has a new rolling road http://www.gotboost.co.uk/
Dai, did you have a Red S2 back in the day, back when everyone hung out in Town Tyres in Neath?

Where abouts are you? Moseleys still do cossies and rs turbos but hes not too keen anymore due to them being old and having to work around problems.
got boost iv seen a cossie they worked on and they didnt have a clue,no disrespect to them as their getting on a bit now and they had no experience with them expect!

Also Dai for what it's worth you know how highly I've always rated you as a mechanic,in fact I'd say your one of the best out there on pretty much most cars but of course Rs's with your passion for them,I know the Mot shit spoilt your enthusiasm for them a lot what with business stresses etc.
My worry is that in South Wales people expect stuff done for fuck all,not everyone of course, but the vast majority certainly, you know how much we both dealt with "mates rates" when we were in business but when we wanted stuff done/needed help I can't remember those same people running up with open arms to help.
I've lost count of the amount of people that used to use your garage as if it were their own never even offering a penny for your time/rates/electricity etc,I know I wasn't one of them and I hope that I tried to help you along the way but no names mentioned I remember one particular boy used to put his car on your ramp, use your oil to top up,clean his car with your cleaning products and swiftly fuck off before you could ask him for a penny,a fellow cosworth owner as well.
You know I'll name and shame him if necessary as I don't give a fuck but I won't embarrass you although I fear that could be the type of person you could end up dealing with.
I'd certainly have no fears in bringing my car to you mate,in fact do you fancy putting it all back together????it's looking very forlorn sitting outside in the rain!!!

Tbh Dai if it was you going into it on your own with say someone like Paul Nicholas etc who's a good mechanic, grown up with Rs cars etc then that may work.my worry would be that YOU may have the skills and experience and care but the same problems will occur as with margam motors which is that people that don't have the same care will be left to work on cars not knowing the complexities and issues that arise with them, mostly because their old cars that are hard to get bits for so if even a small part gets broken it maybe impossible to replace,or at best take time etc.
If Tonys prepared to set you up alone or with another experienced fitter away from the tyre place then you maybe ok but otherwise I reckon people will be put off by the general knuckleheads that hang around/work there,I know it comes with the territory of employing 16yr olds etc.
Another problem is now that the cars are getting so expensive their pretty much no longer a "toy" or fun car, their becoming an investment, even a hunk of shit saff that we wouldn't have paid Ł2000 for is Ł4-5000 now FFS Rs turbos we gave Ł5-600 for are fetching Ł2-2500 and then people get afraid to drive the bloody things,I'd doubt if there's 100 Rs's pre 1995 even on the roads in south Wales right now,I'd say less than 50 in regular use so you could end up with a very limited market.
It's a nice idea but I'd say you'd be better off going down the route of all performance cars, mapping, power runs, performance upgrades etc otherwise I think it could end up being a loss maker instead.
As for winning business a lot of people are set in their ways with their tuners hence the 15page threads you get on here arguing about which tuner has the best coffee machine or got 0.0001bhp more out of their t34 than another tuner they took it too blah blah blah, same shit that's gone on for 20years!!!!
Maybe worth getting touch with the Rs owners clubs down our way to see where they take their motors too get them done?

Some fine vehicles there sir,bet you cringe at the amount of Rs's we broke up over the years that really had fuck all wrong with them!!!!
I'll bet there's quite a few cars on here using those bits to keep going though.
Mikes a good lad as well,he knows his way around a car really well, one of your better finds down there.
You gonna ask sedgy as well!!!!!LOL!!!!
Engine conversions could be a big money move as I know you were doing the zvh/zetec conversions literally when the idea first got banded about plus I know mike put the rs2k motor in his red fiesta when it wasn't really that popular a conversion.
I hope it comes off anyway mate, you deserve another crack at the Rs scene.

Yeah was only messing with Philly!!!!
Soya would be a great addition,he's a good lad and a top mechanic.
I hope so too mate. To give Tony his dues he's always looking for new ideas in business,he mentioned before to me about turning the whole of the Britton ferry site into workshops where you had mechanical, bodywork, tyres, valeting etc all in one.
If I was still going (which thank fuck I'm not!!!) I would have deffo gone for that.
Well, you know you'll get my backing anyway mate.
