Iphone uses a Micro Sim, which is 'exclusive' to Apple as far as I know, but you can cut a standard sim to fit using a micro sim cutter.

As long as the iphone is on the same service provider as your contract i dont see an issue, for example if your with 3 network go in store and they will copy all your phone book etc and put it all on the micro sim for free as they done mine.

I had a Wildfire and it was OK but 3 as a network was poor here.

Now have a Nokia Lumia on Vodafone and it uses a micro-sim. You can either cut down your existing sim or just ask the network supplier to give you a micro-sim.
