Wahay!! I've lost my Virginity!!
hi cat c aint a bad thing as long as you no whats wrong with it and you aint taking someones word for what was wrong with it! its a good way to buy a car and save alot of money so if you do buy it take plenty on pictures of the car so when you come to sell it you can show buyer why the car is a cat c and bare in mind the car will be worth less so if it was worth 10k straight then repaired would sell for 7k or maybe 8k if a minter .

Part of the Furniture
I bought my audi s3 as a cat c, just body damage, and had it 3 years. when it came to selling i had no trouble i took pictures the day i bought it etc so when i sold it showed them too, so people could see how little damage was done,

Not an issue if...
It is at the right price, it will always make a difference come resale so allow 25-30% below a non recorded car.
It has been repaired a while and in use and is not showing signs of issues from botched repairs.
Your insurance company will insure it, some wont so check, but they are cheap to insure on a classic policy through paulb at need2insure...couple of hundred.
He wil have kept the paperwork (often doesnt get handed over when the insurance take it back and sell on), and it cant have been anything too bad, as he bought it back to use.
They are worth the asking in bits I would guess so a low risk by imo. If it is as solid as it sounds, good be a great buy.
