Astra finally has a decent diff after all these years without them that alone trumps the ST's electronic system IMHO

Probable the megane, lol
Although TBH I drove one recently and was a bit underwhelmed, the traction control was on (renault wouldnt let me turn it off, lol) and it was horrid, but it did seem like if you took that restriction away it was a sweet chassis and would probably work well.

Not sure, still got a feeling the focus will be better in the corners, but i think the Astra is going to be fairly quick in a line

Vauxhall always seemed to have the quicker car ib a straight line but round a track ford seem to do better. I like the focus but it looks a bit bland compared to the ashtray vxr.

This time though vauxhall have a high tech suspension setup and a proper mechanical diff.
So I think it might be the other way around for once, despite that historically I would agree with you, but thats often been because its ford who had the sense to fit a diff in the past.

Nice paint match on the Ashtray bumpers.

Astra looks quite lairy outside and Focus looks very bland to me.

The Astra actually looks pretty good to be fair and with a decent diff and a nice chunk more power than the ST. It seems that yet again Ford have fallen short of what we demand from them. If I was in the market and had to pick from the 2 it would be the Focus but only because I just can't bring myself to own a Vauxhall. BUT if I was offered the keys to only one of them for a blast it would be the Vauxhall, hands down.

Best option would be take the money and buy something I actually wanted which in all honesty would be neither.

Lets hope it's a little bland because there's something hotter in the pipe line like with the mk2 ST and RS, remember the dolphin and shark bollocks ford came out with

what's high tech about the front suspension? seems similar to the ford revo knuckle which is similar to something toyota used in the 90s (super strut).

No one will pay that, always end up paying less than the actual price being thrown about.

True but what you get off one you are likely to get near off the other so it's all relative

Agreed. It's not that much faster than an ST considering an ST in poverty spec comes in at 22k

I always thought the ST had the feel and intention of being a fast practical tourer you could drive 'spiritedly' And the RS was the more 'balls out' hooning roadcar.

That said the VXR is a handsome beast.

Just dont like the new Focus ST, Maybe when i see one ill change but as of yet they look shit!

Im sure the RS prices will fall as those who need the new model of anything will be wanting to sell up.

You know who you are

Not keen on the looks of the ST, the price is good & the spec. Maybe I'll change my mind when I see one in the flesh.
