This man. You really have to re-learn how to drive hard with a RWD, much more of a drivers car.

But you always abide by the law, I didn't realise you could drive a car "hard" under the speed limit.

Name a 200bhp rwd PRODUCTION. Car that's faster than a megane r26r round say the nurburgring .

Oh there isn't lol

Unless you get something like a caterham r500 or a ariel atom at twice the price

now imagine how much better that megan would be if 4x4 or rwd lol and modern serious rwd sports cars are a lot more than 200bhp that's why you cannot name one lol

You cant compare fwd to rwd to be honest. There are great FWD cars, there are crap RWD cars and vice versa.

It's because you need a car that's 40k+ new to beat them times set by the meganes

Don't get me wrong I would rather go slower and be sideways but you can't say that fwd is shit

So FWD cars are better on fuel than a RWD car? So if we had the exact same car, lets say a 2.0 16v Mondeo. So this car is FWD yet if it was RWD the fuel economy would drop?

Also Phil RS said.....You get more transmission losses with rwd cars Sorry for sounding a bit thick here but what does that mean?

fwd cars can't put down the power as well as rwd ones, that is a fact, purely due to the front lifting on acceleration, whereas rwd also lift the front, but put more weight on the driving wheels.
rwd weigh more due to extra diff/prop and a bigger tunnel.

you can't compare cost of a megane to a rwd powerhouse, but consider the top spec fwd car to a top spec rwd car, there is a reason they choose a minimum of rwd.

having passed my test and owning rear wheel drive cars my opinion is you need to be on your game if your going to seriously shuffle a rwd car, factor in wet roads and lots of power and your need to be as sharp as the quality parts in your car,i like fwd now,i like the grip in poor conditions and i find it a lot easier to go fast in,i guess its a confidence thing,im more happy caning a fwd than a rwd but each to their own :L

It's common sense to use them, cause with standard tyres RWD is awful in the snow, of course people still get stuck in all types of car but the fact still remains, in general FWD is easier to get about in the snow than RWD.

its common sense to compare like for like, not modifying the vehicle to suit the conditions.

of course adding winter tyres will help, but they will also improve the fwd car...

Stupid isn't it?

To all these RWD diehards, would you rather have a mint Focus RS mk2 with all the mods or a Ł200 eBay BMW from the late 90's? Exactly

Fair enough, I'd definately prefer a 3 door to any other RS (Apart from the old escorts).

lol maybe its because i have them all but i prefer driving my FRS i haven't even bothered finishing my 3dr since and thats got a 550hp engine and just been complete repainted, looms been rewired, near new interior, untracked dash, new suspension, gearbox, diff etc my 400+ RS is much more reliable and i can get it and go without worrying.

well if you didn't use it then it makes sense but to claim that its not as capable as many red cars is insane.

how many miles have you done in your 3dr?

And I've done more in the 3dr.. Only because I've drive it to shows... And I didn't the focus.....
