Default How do I install a GrpA coil??

Should be simple, but my 3dr has + & - screw-on posts on the old coil, while the GrpA one has two blade connectors for each polarity. Am I missing something here?

Thanks!

Cut, strip, crimp, done!

(Which means you have to change the wiring terminals over for spade ones.............)

Default grp a coil

No they are all like that you will either have to make up little adaptor wires to change from round to spade or cut off the connectors and replace them with spade type.

You only use one of the positive and one of the negative terminals....

Just cut off the old terminals and crimp on spades...

Also, on a 4x4: The green goes to the connector marked as negative.

Dunno about a 2wd/3dr though.

i would make up little adaptor leads rather than cut the originals off (bodgers ). that way you can always carry the original coil as a spare or go back to it in an emergency.

Bodgers? Do me a favour!

What kind of emergency requires the carrying of a spare coil?

sorry rich, but cutting the loom to me is bodging. coils don't last forever and can develop faults and need replacing. it makes sense to me to keep the option of fitting either style of coil by using short adaptor leads. admittedly every joint is a potential weak point, but i'd rather do it that way.

I'm thinking of doing the same to my saff but have been told to wire the coil through a separate relay... is this the norm/has anyone done it?, or isn't it worth it? If it is what relay is needed and how do you wire it up?
