People's descriptions of their cars - WTF?!
Went to look at a 205GTI yesterday afternoon following a brief telephone converstion with the guy selling it...
Described as, 'really good bodywork, drives really well, had lots of money spent on it blah blah, but RAC man said head gasket starting to fail, but otherwise it's a tidy car'. OK I said, not a problem as I can do the work myself so we'll sort something out on the price etc. and he agrees.
Anyway, turn up to look at the car.....my description as follows...
Bodywork/interior
1) bonnet so far gone with rust in the front it needs replacing
2) both doors wrinkled badly
3) tailgate has two large dents, one in each side
4) sunroof doesn't close properly and has the rubbers and plastic surrounds missing
5) drivers door has the door lock hanging out and the door is badly damaged where some idiot has tried breaking into it
6) roof has no lacquer on it and looks as if it's been jumped on
7) interior trim and various items missing
Engine
1) head gasket been gone for some time as it's full of mayonaise (and lumpy at that!) and the header tank is full of oil
2) more oil leaks on the engine than I can count
No service history or paperwork as indicated.
Do these people live on a different planet to the rest of us and just visit here occassionally??? What a complete timewaster
