Caught speeding urgent help required

The WORST advice on this thread by a mile!! Pleading guilty was what got me a 12 months ban. If I'd have kept my mouth shut I'd have got a MUCH lighter sentence.
If they've not got evidence, then your plea will convict you. You've nothing to lose by saying the minimum.

We all like to speed now and again if we admit it guys. I know I certainly do and would never deny it.
The thing is, legality aside, there is a time and place and those parameters can only be decided upon by the driver himself.
Here is a great shot Mandy leaned over and took last year just before I shifted into 6th gear.

Too slow to work it out yourself are ya?

I would fight like hell, ask for as much proof as you're entitled to ask for, you've got nothing to lose and do not plead guilty either (until a solicitor has looked over the case and possibly cut a deal in court on the day?)... as Magman Dan said, an admission of guilt is enough to convict you regardless of whether they have any evidence to substantiate the charges or not.
I got banned for 3 months for an average of 113mph a few years back, don't remember the fine... think it was c600 sheet. Convicition code was SP30, I'm fairly sure my maximum recorded speed would have been around (maybe a touch higher) the level you were pinged at.
...apart from doing it away from public roads and on private land?
Cheers,
Grant

Mileage left in tank shows as "Range" on the E39 computers and would likely be far less than that at 160mph+

Sorry cherie.
I meant to put that if the "FACTS of the speed/driving standard are presented as PROVEN",then imop its be a Man and admit your guilt.
If your remoursefull enough to admit your mistake then well who knows what a judge will think of you......probs a tosser for being honest
still no love for me hey Mr Dan W?
Oh well your loss xx

Cochyn did you get out the bed the wrong side this morning?
not true.
You CHOOSE to do that job, you knew what it entailed before you started. If you dont like picking up the pieces of accidents then dont do the job........

I am not "in the know" but from what I have read here are a few questions:
- Did the officer note that you were racing another car?
- How long was he following you for. If he had to accelerate to catch up with you and started from quite far back, he would have had to travel quicker than you to catch you up. In this instance he may have registered 130 on his speedo whilst trying to catch you but you may have been travelling 110. Also, the question of how long he was following you for - he may have to follow you for a set time in order to get a true reading, do you know/remember how long he was behind you?
Like I said, I am not in the know whatsoever, just a few questions I would be asking in your position. Also keep in mind Ford Speedos, using the 10% rule, to be doing an actual 130mph, your speedo would have to show 145mph - is that possible/likely ( not sure of the specs of your car)

Michael Lyon Solicitors in Glasgow have got me off with a lot of driving things in the past. www.roadtrafficlawyer.com He's the man when it comes to driving stuff. Question everything, 130 is a strange speed to get caught at on the dot. Strange they did no show you the speed you got caught at. :S

Also +2 on what dan@fastford has said!!
If you look on pistonheads at the people "doing the right thing and pleading guilty" and not noticing that dd has a manditory 12month ban and wondering why they got a harsh ban for sliding around on McDonald trays in a car park.
Another one was "don't want a solicitor because I'm guilty" followed by "I suppose yes it was quite dangerous" 18month ban for going the wrong way around a roundabout following a friend in a ind est.
Not the same thing but leads to play the game and don't make it easy for them to slam dunk you.

Ha ha, really got to laugh at cochyn the angel, as if he never does wrong on the British roads.
I would guess that a very high majority of us on here a drove above the speed limit at some point in our cars, so that must make us all cunts in cochyn's eyes.
But don't worry lads we can all go out and do rolling burnouts up the road because cochyn has said it's allowed
You need to wind your neck in mate and get a grip.

Cochyns first post on this thread made him look a complete cunt.
And then it all went downhill from there!!
To the OP : All the best, hope you make the best of the shitty situation. We've all driven like twats at one time or another.

I wish you the best with the outcome! It does seam strange that you didn't get a ticket that states the speed, I don't think there has been a day in the last 15 years of driving that I haven't had points for speeding and all my tickets had the speed written on them.
One thing that bugs me are those in the public services that feel they need to lecture those who speed about the aftermath of high speed incidents. You chose your profession as did I.

im older and wiser now but an occasional blow out when on my own on the motorways at high speed is still enjoyed.

all id say is "proove it, im certain i wasnt going anywhere near that fast" and see what happens, ive had coppers try and trick me before, it wasnt a motoring offence and i cant really go into detail for obvious reasons but they reckon they had me on camera caught red handed so i said ok then proove it, show me some evidence as i wasnt there and no evidence ever came and the case was dropped.

Speeding is dangerous and therefor exciting and addictive , nothing makes you feel more alive than when you think its so close to being gone ,I knew a guy who ran in the TT back in the 70's some would see him as a fool, he could of killed himself and others ,some would say he made a personal choice to know what it is to live .

Any way.
Oranoco, really sorry to hear it mate. We all do silly things sometimes. I can't offer any advice based upon experience however I would definitely be looking for a solicitors firm who specialises in this type of thing. Would at least be worth spending the money and having an hours chat with them, let you know what to expect and how to deal with it.
All the best

Look at the weather there, surely that can't be safe doing that sort of thing in the icy snowy cold freezing weather...looks like you can't see over the crest of that road infront either.. tut tut you are also in the middle of the road as well... (insert what ever smileys you feel adequate)

Got a 7 day ban in 98 and 120 fine in basildon court for doing 103 average but was doing over 120 on the A127 on way to southend back in the day,it was last one to southend buys the burgers.and since then ive been banned twice here in Gibraltar for numerous speeding convictions but when max speed is 50kph its difficult not to speed

I havent read this whole thread but I got caught doing 121mph on a motorway late at night last year. No traffic etc but had two passengers.
They recorded my speed and showed me (I got told they HAVE to show you there and then... or it means nothing in court)
I received 14 month ban, extended resit and a £900 fine.
People will tell you to tell them you need licence for work but even with facing a job loss that is what the judge handed me.

I hadn't seen the pic and it sounded bad enough not to go gobbing off about how others drive. Now I've seen it I'm pretty shocked that he didn't STFU instantly.
Unbelievable.
