I wouldnt want to be giving 1500 quid for an 8v corsa sri TBH

Unless it was in REALLY good condition.

Your best bet is to ask on http://www.migweb.co.uk if you want advice on corsas really as then you will get advice from people who have actually done it rather than tossers like XRSi who are quoting irrelevant crap at you that they have read somewhere (max power magazine i guess?) but know nothing about the accuracy of.

actually i think you will find i know alot more about it than you actually think, im not saying that your wrong, but your price figures are way out!

i have done alot of conversion, not only ford ones and yes if you can make alot of thins yourself then yes you can do things alot cheaper, but there is no way you can do a full c20-let conversion for £1000 and a redtop for £200 the engines cost more than that alone, if they dont then i would be suspect to there condition! i know exactly what is involverd in converting a corsa to a redtop, hence knowing about a modified bulkhead, or buying or manufacturing a power cap for a start! just cos i aint bosted about things doesnt mean i dont know! and just cos its a ford bb doesnt mean that people only know about fords!

if you have that opinion of everyone who disagrees with you then thats up to you.. end of day i was only offering real world prices for things, as im sure that she would not be able to manufacture mounts etc herself! i know i cant!

end of day tho she aint asked about engine conversion etc!

as for price, 1500 is a little steep for an 8v SRi unless its minter than mint with low millage, it looks like they back to black the bumpers tho! (autooglym bumper care brings up the arches mint btw) and as for not letting anyone else drive it.... makes you wander! you can pick up lots of sports, so the prices reflect this.....

The dearest LET ive bought i paid 700 quid for
First one we bought we gave 600 for, both those were less than 80K miles and in great nick.

Easiest way though is to buy a complete car, you can get it far cheaper that way round once you sell the bits you dont need.

The XE and brakes for the first valver nova i had cost me nothing, cause i sold all the other bits for more than i paid for the donor cars.

PS

you dont need a power cap, the XE in my nova i just moved the bulkhead back slightly cost = nothing

They are also a bad idea as they lose you a lot of torque lower down, the SFi box is there for a reason.

ok... cool.. ill see what his reserve is. i think id get the bumpers sprayed as as much as back bumper care works.. i think it will look abit better all black... i think ill get my dad to ask about driving it as i do wonder, even if its round the block!! and he said hed try and dig out receipts to tell me when he last got the brakes etc.. done.

They are mechanically very simple, brakes are far easier to fix than a bit of rust or a scratch on the bodywork, so although you want to look at all aspects of the car, the bodywork should be your main focus IMHO as its the most expensive thing to sort.

Engine shouldnt sound too tappety either, so if it makes much noise id walk away and find another one.

He sounds like a complete cock, is it a 1.2 as well just to really hammer the final nail into the coffin of it having any redeeming features at all?

Well at least it has some go to back up the "looks" i guess.

I can understand the point in spending loads of money on a car you wont ever see back in order to make it fast, i do it all the time, but i cant see the point in trying to make a corsa look "bad" or "phat" or whatever he was hoping for.

No dobut he could have bought a nice 3 door cossie for less than he has spent on his corsa, and that looks better than any corsa ever could in my opinon plus would be quicker anyway.

Each to their own i guess, but if i ever saw it i would just laugh at him i suspect.

You can't beat Corsa's, stick a LET in it and go and surprise a few people

Tim, the only way you surprise people is by pulling out in front of them and then doing 20mph everywhere.

The 8v ones are still quick enough to get around ok, but its not a racing car.

The 16v ones standard are quicker, and can easily be made a lot quicker.

As a first car though, either is ideal really, reliable, cheap insurance etc

i dunno i reckon a viper would all at least 10,000 BHP, and with the tints another 1000, and the exhaust will give at least 3000 cos it makes so much noise... then if i lower it and whack it on 30inch alloys (teheeh!!) that will make it at least 100,000 BHP.. id get to the moon and back in the time it took u to go to tescos.. fab!!!

i dotn have air bags tehehe

Both look fine from what you have put there, 2 grand is good money to be managing to sell one for, but they are pretty desirable little cars at the moment with young drivers, so im not surprised at people asking that much.

Go for it i reckon, good little motors.

you again great hehe

i feel a bit of a pikie getting one as theyre all got at by boy racers... but i like them.. i know what u mean about being overpriced, if u look at any other car for the same price u get a lot more, but i guess maybe they wont go down too much in teh next few years so when i sell it i wont lose that much, not that it matters really...

i might go and see them at the weekend

you wont hear the end of it if i buy one you realise.... i will be the most excited girlie in teh world!!!

katie x

ps
about the wheels... if corsas go to et42 then do u think et38 is definitely not going to fit?? its not the end of the world... just would have loved my wheels on teh car...

thanks

I expect you can get them to fit, it will just upset the handling a little, but i doubt you are going to be doing trackdays in it anyway?

All you can do is try them and see how badly they catc hthe rar arches and see if there is room to manouvre in terms of rolling up the lip on the arch.
Im confident that you CAN get them to fit without rubbing if you are prepared to roll the arches.

You might get away with it anyway though, you wont know till you try, and due to the variances in the way the beams align anyone who tries to give you a definitive answer is probably missing something.
