Default Replacing Lambda Sensor

Hi all.

Im about to change my lambda sensor on my car.
Its a fiesta mk4 1.25 with 98k on the clock.
The new lambda sensor has a round connector, but the old one is square / rectangular in shape. Can I just cut the plug off and solder the wires together, just as long as they match up with the wires on the plug socket?

Cheers

That should work, but you should be able to get an adaptor lead to convert the lambda plug to the car plug. I did when I got a replacement for my DOHC Sierra.

The lambda sensors have different tips aswell, the original one on my car has a pointy tip where as the new one has a straight tip.
Is this going to cause any problems?
