Ps, chip just because theyre 7.2:1 pistons they can often come out higher, dependant how much the block was skimmed and the pistons were skimmed.
As you know! So need to know what it was measured at by the builder chop!
Indeed, thats just the figure you would achieve based on an unskimmed head and block and making assumptions about the standard deckheight etc.

Still going to be under 8 realistically though even if both have been skimmed to hell and back.

The AB07 is a great inlet cam for std comp pistons with no mod. Combined with the GT30 its a perfect road spec.
I have a quaife box and a decent diff, I cant rem if its RnD or gripper or whatever the fuck it is.

If its going to australia, wouldnt you be better off going motec or autronic with it rather than pissing around with antique technology like air injectors and an L8 etc?

As it happens someone mentioned motec earlier. Any idea of good motec dealers?

Autronic is a good shout. I see from google that its an Australian company LOL.

Anyone any idea how much autronic or motec are fitted and mapped?

Autronic SM4 is now expensive compared to Vipec 44 which is also better in some respects. Vipec is also Australian.

Well yeah that was the whole point of the build. Not to modify the head ports at great cost but to use a big turbo, uprated valve springs a proper cam and Vi-pec management. T38 would have been shit on mine due to surge. No need for fancy inlets, cooler, head porting etc etc. The results speak for themselves.

And Steve - Picked up 30bhp with the same boost using the MAD cam. If your block splits because of your 540bhp make sure you get a 200 block and valve cut outs done on your pistons and then see what difference a proper cam makes. I was BD14 before the MAD cam. you could make near on 600 bhp on your T38 equipped engine.

Chop - Stick with t34 but upgrade your cooler to cope with act's in Aus imo. Be surprised how much power you will lose becuase of ignition retard and the new top feed coolers from Spec R or airtec get rid of the need for water injection it seems. Saying that though seems you are in for a whole world of pain if caught speeding so maybe sell the cossie and get a robin reliant

I've been bezzy mates with The Bird since you were about 10 Jimbo! (or less maybe?!)

Who makes the T38? Have I confused them? I was thinking it was Universal Turbos but from searching PF it seems they are CR?

I offered your old man some cossie bits in px.

If you know anyone for a .25 crank and a 200 block etc let me know

Haven't read through this properly Chop but i'd go for a CR T34/63 Roller bearing Turbo and although Autronic is an excellent system, it's expensive and probably does a lot more than you'll ever need it for, Omex 710 is really good and not that pricey compared, could buy the system and a loom for 700ish iirc.

If you can get your T34.55 rebuilt i would just stick with that, saves the extra cost of injectors and mapping . Ive ran a UT T38 and a GT3071 both on low comp engines and the GT30 was in a different level as far as responce goes.

Problem with the T34 is that they tend to get fed up of high revs and spit the dummy.

I'm thinking T38 as it's a direct replacement yet flows more air and shouldn't be as on the edge as a T34.

I'm not worried about the cost of injectors and the mapping will need paid for anyway so...

The GT30 was better than the 38?

Another thing I need is a pectel board for my L6. Ł250?!

Anyone know where to find one cheaper?

Yip out of all the turbos ive had i would go GT3071 if i was to do it again. In the past ive had T34.55 , T34.63 , T38 , Roller T4 and the GT30.
But after seeing the recent results that Cossiedavid and SCS have got out of roller T4's Im just a bit gutted I wasted money with AVA and never went down south for the mapping. As it does look to be a very good turbo with the correct spec and mapping.

If it's booked in for mapping, what did you say when you arranged it, did you discuss a spec? Better be quick, the 18th will be here very soon and I'm likely to be away very shortly. Turbos sitting ready to go.

I discussed it as mapping a T38 but tbh I could still change my mind.

I'm probably going to go down that route as I need to px my T34, its the samecasing so direct bolt on.

Just need the pectel board and air injectors and we're off.

Its true that its a lot less common for people to rebuild them as spares are less readily available and they are a little more involved to rebuild, but they actually CAN be rebuilt, its just often easier to simply replace the cartridge instead.

I have read through this thread and can see no reason why it has been moved into the muppet room!!

I do not know who moved it here but the majority of the rest of the mod team are also in agreement that it was fine in General Car Discussion so i will move it back.

apologies for that folks.

edited - Ive also cleaned up the thread a bit so as it can get back on topic.
