Default Focus RS mk1 problems

Okay, the issue starts after I bought the car and went to fit my K&N GEN2 induction kit, I found that the car had a bleed valve fitted in line between the actuator and the amal valve/boost solenoid. The boost solenoid was connected up, but it makes no difference whether it is or isn't I get no dash lights and the car drives the same. I took it to Alan Jeffrey in Plymouth as they are the only tuning specialist in the South West near to me and they told me they looked at the car and that it was only running standard map and standard power (212bhp with dyno run). So I re-booked it in with them, and they told me they installed a new map and the car was now making 230+bhp. This was all well and good until I installed my new boost gauge, which peaks at 20psi but tails off quite quickly down to around 10/11 psi, where as the standard gauge (which we all know is rubbish) seems to not drop off, although by the drive of the car - you can tell the boost is dropping off...

Personally I think this could be a worn actuator caused by the bleed valve being installed?

Also, in my fuse box where the engine symbol is I have a black fuse with nothing much on it - is this standard? It looks almost like a light tricker type device?

Also when I turn on the ignition what does the standard engine light look like?

I've ordered my new Forge actuator and need it fitted, and set up.

If I disconnect the battery for say an hour, would this reset the ECU and erase any fault codes stored?

And does anyone know the nearest specialist for a FRS near or around the South West?

Thanks.
