Default Any Fiat techs on here? Punto non-start

Been looking at a Fiat Punto today, 08 plate Grande Punto 120hp 1.4 turbo.

Non-start, cranks over but no start.
Has spark at plugs.
15 bar compression on all cyls.
3 bar fuel pressure.
Plugs are wet.

Has code in ECU for 'motorised throttle' recovery P1638.

I took the intake pipe off the TB and the throttle plate seemed stuck, had someone operate the pedal with key on while I pushed the throttle plate, the TB clicked and whirred then started moving.

My thoughts were if the TB hasn't been opening it's been injecting fuel but with no air, and flooded it - do these have any known issues with TBs failing?

It's a Bosch ME7xx system.

throttle bodies on Fiat/Alfas are shocking quality at the minute Gary

get a scope and check PWM waveforms for glitches or drop spots, seen one where plastic gear had sheered 2 teeth! 22k car

Cheers , will have a look.

Do you agree with my thoughts of it flooding if TB was stuck shut?

Fiat Punto non-start...

Had visit from Fiat engineer today, he ummed and arred and checked all the stuff i'd done, he wasn't happy with fuel quality, so long story short, drained fuel, new fresh unleaded and set of new plugs and it fired up!!

VERY pleased did not fit a new ECU as once they're fitted , they're coded to that car and can't be returned.

Doh!! Remember kids, always start with the basics!
