how to acheive 190-200hp (1600 cvh on mfi)
hi there, just reading with intrest joes thread on turbo's to suit his cvh (in excess of 350hp) and got me thinking, what turbo would be suitable and also what sort of work would be needed to get a good useable 190-200hp. i understand the valves are already big in a cvh and the std cam is very good. is it a good idea to have the cyl head ported or just blueprinted. i know the hp i mentioned is easy to obtain, im just intrested to hear how people go about it. still on mfi btw. cheers matt

Front mount intercooler
Stainless exhaust system
Air filter
Chip
20psi shoved down its throat.
And then hope it doesn't go bang anytime soon. Due to the nature of mfi the fueling set up ie metering unit is based on mechanical parts and in my experience over time doesnt take much to go out of sync and run lean and melt pistons.
I believe mfi can only see boost upto 1 bar and anything after this is a guessing game of dumping as much fuel in as you can to stop it detting.
Although I have seen mfi RS turbos run 22-24psi for years and stay ok so pot luck I guess.

thanks. what does stage3 involve, is it a bigger housing, better design compressor wheel and bearing? how much for a turbo of this spec if a std t3 was supplied? thanks again for the answers folks. 200hp is essentially found in the turbo then, given the rest is in good nick and the fueling can deliver??

I stuck a t34 on my escort when it was mfi and drove it the night i fitted it, blew it up due to fueling, took a chunk out of my piston haha..Anyway, you dont need a stage 3 hybrid for that power, stage 2 would suit it nicely, little bit of head work i.e port and polish, probs a FMIC to be on the safe side..
My mate has just made 200bhp in his fiesta and hes got half capacity intercooler, T2 turbo, beige injectors, and done some porting himself to his head..thats it, pretty easy really bud.
Thanks, Joe

i already have a big fmic, scorpion s/s, k&n filter, -31 and plan on doing some light headwork myself. not porting as such, just blending and removing casting flash ect. i have a turbo on the way, just a std t3 in need of an overhaul which i will use as the basis for an upgraded unit. what sort of boost is safe on a std t3 with a big i/cooler?
