fitting a dumpvalve on bottom boost hose (escort rs turbo) ??????
just a quicky.........
i have a series 1 rs turbo & its completely std but am thinking of fitting a dumpvalve but dont want to cut the original top boost hose as there like hens teeth!!!!!!!
i also dont want to fit samcos etc...
so i have a spare std bottom boost hose (from bottom of intercooler to turbo hoseing) & am thinking of fitting a t-peice & dumpvale here?
any issues of why nots????????
cheers

Tbh that's not entirely correct,
Besides there not fitted for performance on a Rs turbo lol purely for noise.
To answere your question, yea it's fine to fit it hot side, plenty of cars have them like this ( pretty sure focus Rs does actually) ,
Have it fitted this way on my fiesta turbo as like you I didn't want to cut the top hose and it's fine

May cause reliability issues with the valve having it on the hot side of the intercooler. To be honest the fitment of a DV on these cars is going to cause problems full stop. To be brutal, don't bother.

can you explain these problems.had 2 erst s2 both with bailys twin piston dump valve driven in all sorts of conditions ie motorway off boost,up hill full boost ,light driving, hard driving and never ever had a single problem, the only problem you will have is being be called a chav, but i grew up dreaming of a rs turbo boosting then dumping it and thats why I have one, pretty sad really lol but its what makes you happy

Quite simply KE-Jetronic does not like air leaks, hence taking oil cap off with engine running will cause it to die. Most people have problems with a DV of the car dieing when coming to a stop after dumping.
I went through many different types of DV in my 16 years of RS Turbo ownership before realising they were naff and simply didn't work on them

oranoco's right, the injection system is not designed to work with them venting to atmosphere.
at BEST it'll waste fuel and drive a bit rubbish
at WORSE it'll cut out all the time

yes the twin piston onte is required for the car to even IDLE as that uses a second piston which closes at idle stopping the air leak.
still, whilst the DV is open (ie light throrrle and letting ff and it "dumping") the engine will be overfueling like mad.
this doesnt mean a twin piston DV will not cause problems on an RST

its only because the breather system is a stuid design by recirculating on itself
my rst i uses a bailey breather but hadit venting to atmosphere, this stopped two things
oil vapours being dragged back into the metering unit by turbo which took away the oil found in boost hoses and out of dumpvalve, and the stupid air leak problem when it cut out if you lose your oil cap as they do get worn and blow off
alls you do is thepipe that goes to the metering unit from seperator just leave that to atmosphere and block the hole up in the unit itself, so basically like a efi set breather

I've had a baileys twin piston DV on a series 2 engine setup in a cab, no problems what so ever, still running well today.
unless you're running higher boost they do very little, my ZT has one, but only when you've got over 12psi does it even think of dumping when lifting throttle.
