i was looking through ebay about 7 months ago when i saw an imperial blue escort cossie for sale in birmingham reg number L105 NTW IF YOU WERE THINKING OF VIEWING THIS CAR IT WILL BE A WASTE OF YOUR TIME. i saw it on ebay so i arranged to travel down from glasgow to view the car as i was told it was a stunning example of the car, 300 miles later i arrived at birmingham when i first saw it from a distance it looked ok but close up it was a mess the car was stolen recovered and the chassis plates had been ripped off it. Every panel on the car was either scratched or had a dent on it and the alloys were in a terrible mess 2 of which were buckled. the interior wasn,t much better i was told over the phone that it had an unmarked leatrher interior turns out it was a cloth trim he said he made a mistake on the phone. then we got to the test drive, the car wouldn,t pull away untill it got to about 4500revs then when you did get it going it wouldn,t stop banging and popping it was like bonfire night the guy then tried to tell me that it needed spark plugs and because he hadn,t drove the car for three days the ecu had gone into turbo slump (what a laugh) this was a car which was supposed to have a totally standard engine which had only covered 48k. I phoned a friend who is an rs specialist and he advised me to keep back from the car so did the local police and the hpi company when i phoned for a background check so i thanked the guy for wasting my time then started my 300 mile journey home. i am just letting everyone know because i don,t want anybody else to get there time wasted like i did. i forgot to mention it had a impreza wrx back box on it. and on the way home the guy even had the cheek to phone me and complain for wasting his time.

the main thing was i didn,t let this put me off and 4 months later i found a genuine mint escort cosworth so don,t let things let this put u off your dream car.

Isn't there some sort of clause (sp) on ebay that the item must be as described? Surley the person bidding would not pay the full amount upfront before lookin at the car? if they do then maybe they deserve to be fukked over

Can't the seller be reported to ebay for false advertising?

Was looking at that motor this aft and thinking it looked nice. I know better now, not that I could afford one at the moment anyway but it's a shame that people have to blatantly lie through their teeth to get a sale.

Ben ..

I now know you are likely to read this at some stage, if not already.

You and your father are really a couple of prize pricks, aren't you?
Are you in some sort of dream world ... eh?

I'll run the recorded history on the car tomorrow, and if theres anything interesting, I'll let everyone know, OK?
Your bidder on eBay doesn't have to complete this deal, if you described it incorrectly, does he?

"A rare opportunity to own an unmodified and well looked after Escort Cosworth!"

Yeah .. sure.

This is how Ford sees this car ...

There MAY be reasons for this ..

Who would BUY this number .. no-one .. DVLA would assign an unused number, if this had a private plate before.
This could be an error .. but for a claimed Ford-maintained car, this is very "fishy"

Anyone get the VIN by any chance? Someone PM or email me with it??

I wouldn't lay too much faith in the Microcat description.
A friends Focus RS was down as a ST170 due to someone clicking the wrong button.

There's a few on Autotrader at the moment, but it all depends on what you mean by low miles and if you're looking for a particular colour.

No that wasn't me!

I had no plans to go and see this car as it was me that started this post, so I knew it wasn't up to scratch, it was bigpower that had the puncture.

I went to see an Imperial Blue one in Watford Saturday before last, currently £14950 on the Autotrader site.

Ouch...17k! The 23k one on automotive is 17k!

Thanks for the offer but i got talking to him on the phone last week and didn't have the heart to view the car as he really didn't want to sell it!!! He's text me today asking about the PF meet on Wednesday so he'll be there and i'll have a squiz whilst he is!!!

At the end of the day i want to drive the car, i'm not looking for a minter ...just a clean low mileage car really.

I appreciate there 10 years old so i don't mind doing some work.....i have an S2 to use as a second car so i 'm able to get around!!!!!

PM me iif you've got any real concerns mate...anything i may miss in the dark!!

Thankyou

He only wants £14950 for it now, he'd sell it if the money was in front of him, his other half would make sure he did!

I'll PM you a bit later.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWA:IT

Eventually went for £15200...mugs!

Ben did answer my question on ebay regarding the bodywork, he said it had had a Ford repair from a small ding in a car park. Can't see my question and/or answer on ebay though!
