Did anyone else notice in the split screen video of the Merc vs the Maserati
The Stig has different gloves and helmets:

Don't manufacturers sometimes use their own drivers as a stig? I know they have their own stig for general work like Ben Collins & Perry Mccarthy did but you can sometimes see differences in their size and driving styles.

I think That's why Michael Schumacher drove the FXX and then featured on the show.

Maybe that's what they're now doing as opposed to just having one driver - saves another 'Ben Collins' incident doesn't it. if there are loads, who can guess who drove what ? Means no consistency mind....

Ye they are different, I believe when Ben Collins was the stig sometimes if he was away doing other things they got stand ins, apparently Mark Higgins did a lap for them once.

 

its the same stig, the video was put together split screen after they done both cars. Must have changed the gloves and helmet before taking the next car out.

I got caught in traffic on the way there so somebody had to drive the Merc before I got there in the Maserati.

 

The helmets are definatley different, the bottom one has a black tab on the visor and is also fitted with HANS anchors.

gloves and helmet different? where are you looking, gloves are different as they come in the pair, so that shows nothing.
the helmet is the same simpson, but has the catch on one side that the other doesn't, so that's that one solved.
as for build, could be a lot down to seat position or whatnot.
there is no way that the bbc will do such a daft mistake as to not use the same gear.

 

Are you smoking crack?
You can see both gloves in the bottom screen shot and they are different to the one you can see in the top screen shot.
Plus you don't fit just one HANS Anchor to one side of a helmet!!!

gloves are clearly different alpinestars from the same range, could have been sweaty and changed over.
as for helmet, i know what you're saying about HANS posts, i think the first pic isn't clear enough to rule out the post isn't there in the first pic lol!
it's all messed around with, otherwise they'd just show the face. different days of racing, drivers etc.

 

Check it out on the iPlayer you can clearly see top Stig hasn't got the HANS anchors fitted.

i don't think i put enough lols in lol!
i have no doubts it's all different stigs and prob have several helmets donated to them in various guises and pick whichever fits well enough on the day.
