Default dont kill me but a vauxhaul vivaro engine question

Hi guys, have any of you had any experience of vivaro engines ? as one of the works vans had water in the oil, so as its a lease hire it went of to the local garage to be looked at, I possibly thought oil cooler breaking down if its like the one the transit where it passes water through the base of the oil filter housing, as a good case scenario. the garage reckon its the head gasket. so over a week later they still haven't got the head off as they reckon where the head gasket is gone a while the head is corroded to the block, and they cant remove it without some special bit of kit they dont have. But they can get a company out with the kit to do the job, but cant give my company a quote on how long its gonna take to do, so my question is can the head and block corrode together so without special kit they cant be separated, or is a case of the garage trying to pull a fast one ?
sorry for the long winded explanation.
cheers

how can block and head currode together?

theres a gasket in between!

never had this before on any vivaro or nissan/vauxhall ive had the head off.

unless they`ve fucked and injector trying to compression test it and cant get it out, had to get specialist injector peeps in 3 times to pull injector no.1 out for me

or they just purely havent bothered there arse to do it yet

Absolute load of bollocks. They have obviously cocked something up or havent even touched it yet hence they are just wasting time!!
I would go in all guns blazing and if possible take another mechanic with ya!

Was going to say, have heard about the injector issues with people having big problems getting them out as they fuse into the head but not the actual head not coming off lol.....think they are either getting mixed up or are trying to pull a fast one tbh!

Sounds to me like they have probly snapped an injector trying to get it out,our van techs at work have never had a problem getting the heads off these or any other vans for that matter.as said above tho the only normal issues with these is the injectors seizing in.

taking the head off wtf for

id say its oil cooler all garages try this to get extra money, flush it out and then try it for a couple of days to see what happends..

the reason why the oil coolers go wrong is because people put the wrong antifreeze in

Yeh sounds like injector seized. There is a special tool for them. Although to be fair even that doesn't always work so if the injector is knackered u can't definitely blame the garage. I work at Vauxhall and they replace engines for seized injectors if under warranty due to the cost of a new head... So hopefully yours comes out!!

our lease company requires us to take it to the dealer as they won't let independents do any work on our vans

if it's not gone to a vauxhall dealer then i'd put money on the other guy breaking something and now trying to cover his arse
